What's the name of the big nurse? I know the other but I can't recall seeing her before. Is she(?) also part of Poser or is it an "add-on" like Duke and the kids?

c1rcle ( ) posted Mon, 21 July 2003 at 6:47 AM

According to poser she's called Bertha but the guys in the pic with her call her something else ;) All 7 came with poser it's just the first time I've let them out of their folder, not sure why I hadn't cause they look like fun to play with :)

Oh so that's (big) Bertha :o) I remember seeing some poses labelled Bertha (at least I think so) I think I'll go play with them too when I get home. I bet they'll z-toon great :o)

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 21 July 2003 at 9:13 AM

They're not JUST P5, Rasputina. They originally came with Pro Pack for P4 :o)

Ok, I'll jump on the bandwagon too. This is Ginger using the P5 toon shader.

And a portrait... Geez, her eyes are NOT user friendly. Turned some dials, and they spun right off her face. So they're at their default positions.

Ok, this should be it for me. (somebody make me stop! lol) This one has Minnie as well, and is a bit more 'toonified'

I'm still not too clear on how the toon node works, care to explain it GF?

rasputina ( ) posted Mon, 21 July 2003 at 11:46 AM

oh wow, I didn't know that, dag....I'm still on plain old poser 4.03 lol. :)

I think I'll write up a tutorial on it. It's actually quite flexible. But for a quickie tut, here goes: First thing is to try and avoid textures. It can be done using textures, but the results aren't great. You have two main options on where to connect the toon node: diffuse, and alternate diffuse. Diffuse gives you results as seen in these posts, and alternate diffuse gives it more of a flat look, similar to this new z-toon craze. (I used alternate diffuse on my Link animation in freestuff) Note when using it with alternate diffuse, to make your Diffuse value 0. Second is to choose two like colors for what the surface is. Light color is going to be your main, or base color. Dark color is the color used when the model would be shaded. What I do when choosing colors is choose my light, then make the dark color the same. Then alt-click on the dark color, and move the right hand slider down a bit, roughly taking away 50 units of luminosity. (ex. original color had 100 lum, decrease so it's around 50 lum) The next part is Ink color, which you don't even really need to mess with as will be explained later... After that is spread. This is basically the shading range between the light and dark colors. 0 gives you a great anime look, as the color is either light or dark, with no shading. 1 blends both light and dark together, with barely any transition. The last part is line width, which doesn't do much. What it should do is outline the figure like the toon display mode does, but the results are pathetic. So I always just turn that sucker down to 0. I'll see about writing up a proper tutorial going more in depth, with sample images. Let me know if you need further help :)

I did a couple awhile back:

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it.
Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together.
All things connect......Chief Seattle, 1854
