Yeah...they fixed it and gave me my voucher back!!

:-)

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 3:51 PM

cool now they should give the PC members their 30% discount on DAZ original items back..like it says in the PC membership benefits page.

You mean you don't like the 50% sale going on right now on DAZ original items? ;)

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 5:48 PM

I love the 50% sale...but I want my 30% on top of it :) That's what it says in the membership text...30% off DAZ original items, in addtion to any existing sales... "As a Platinum Club member, you will receive a 30% discount off all DAZ Original products** (excluding Platinum Club items) for as long as you continue your membership. This 30% discount is in addition to any existing sales and can be combined with gift certificates and vouchers. "

hmmmm...you've got a point Dave! Have you emailed them about it? I'd like to know myself.....

Dizzie ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 6:20 PM

where does it say that Dave? I can't find it

PheonixRising ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 7:21 PM

Since Daz doesn't usaully do 50% off sales I think it was meant as a special sale. They are pretty generous as it is. Pushing the point sounds a bit smaultzy. They don't usually do a 50%. lol I mean gawd the stuff is almost clearance already. You don't want to end up forcing them to raise prices just so they can pay the staff. hehe I do think it would be a good idea to advertise sales a week in advance like all the big retailers do.

I understand what you're saying about being...smaultzy :) sorta don't even wnat to say anything, but I'm like one of those pit bulls once I bite down on something... I called DAZ this afternoon...unfortunately, the marketing folks were tied up..so did talk to a fine young gent whom shall remain nameless that would pass the word (hopefully) We discussed the sentiments of a few..and how it looks...I think DAZ should have stated up front that this sale, being extended to 50%, over-rides the PC discount benefit. I would be just fine with that...but it wasn't presented that way. To save a buck is always good IMO... of course, on the other hand, suppose I should be careful so that DAZ doesn't get tickef off and repay the ingratitude with less sales in the future Dizzie--if you click on Platinum Club under the Products tab, and read down a couple of paragraphs, the discount proceedure is given there.

I don't think Dave that that much thought went into it. They are very laid back and casual folk. I can see where they got excited about doing a sale but overlooked the particulars. Now, I on the other hand, am neither laid back or casual.hehe Those types of things I used to point out to them. :) I do agree with you that information and clause have to always be communicated. That is why I think a week's notice is a good idea. That is, after all, why all those stores have there next week's sales circulars and annoouncements out one week before the sale. I am one of those people who prefers structure so I understand what you mean.

:) Thanks...I really do feel bad about even bringing it up and pushing on it a bit...considering DAZ is without doubt, one of the best Poser product developers around...usually great customer service, and I'm sure just fine all around great people... but I have to say they seem to be jumping a bit quick trying to please everyone maybe..or like you say, not really looking at the entire picture... anyway, 50% off is surely a lot better than full price any day.

Word from DAZ is that this was originally a Platium Club sale only. When they considered that they hadn't offered significant sales to non-PC members for awhile, they decided to extend the sale to everyone. Anton's perspective goes a long way to flesh out how this probably happened. DAZ meant to do a nice thing. In my opinion, expecting a total 80% off is a bit much, especially considering that the current 50% off is better than the standard 30% off for PC members. On the other hand, membership benefits as stated do clearly say that PC members would get 30% off in addition to any existing sale. So, it's ultimately in how you argue it. My argument is this: For renewing, I recently received the Hydra and The Freak base for free, and will soon receive the base mesh for Stephanie Petite for free. Pretty darn hard to complain when you add it all up! :-) But I do understand where you and others are coming from, Dave. Not arguing, just another view. Dean

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 10:27 PM

Dean... I totally agree with you...DAZ is wonderful :) I've been buying stuff from them for quite awhile, and without doubt have gotten tons of great products, tons of free products, and tons of very high quality stuff at a very low price I spoke to a guy on the phone this afternoon over at DAZ and explained how this sale is being taken by quite a few people...its more of a semantics issue than anything...and from what I've gathered, they are really just trying to give us the best possible pricing... Its really hard to even bring this up...I probably should have just let the thing float away into the vapor :) Now, if they were to honor that addtional 30% off, would I even feel right about accepting it? And it really isn't 80% off...for example, a product at $10 would sell to a pc member normally at $7. With the pc sale...$10-30% =7-30% = 4.90...51%..and that is what they are discounting for PC members right now during the sale...so we're still getting the sale as originally set up..this is a good thing. with the current 50% sale..10-50%=5-pc30%=3.50.. which is 65% off. 80% off would be $2 Either, or , or the other way..its still a great deal...

Dude, don't feel badly about bringing it up, it's something worth their consideration. You make a lot of good points, and don't sound like a whiner at all. The only reason I mentioned my perspective is because I'd also wondered about this at first. Just because we love DAZ and recognize their good intentions doesn't mean we can't speak our minds about various issues as they come up. I think the bottom line is that most people can't afford to buy all the DAZ products they'd like to, at least not quickly enough, so when an opportunity to save some $$ comes up, we want to maximize it. Marketplace human nature. :-)

When Daz had their 1st 50% sale this issue came up about 30% on top of 50% and it was stated that that was not the way it works. They were going to change the wording in that item description and I do not think it ever got done. This is not the 1st 50% sale and the times that Daz does it, the PClub 30% always comes up. The wording on the description is very clear about how it works and that's not what is happening. Also the FAQ on PClub has no mention or info on the topic, yet there have been a couple of sales. They should update the FAQ too. Not the 1st time it's come up, and unless they fix the description it wont be the last. I also do not understand the 30% addition off the 50% sale as unresonable. Membership has it's privilages and acording to the description seems that's one of the bonuses. I'm not slammin Daz please don't take it that way. I just don't like one thing said and another done. say it, do it, else change it to reflect what you intended. and I'm not a PClub member so I'm sure someone will point a finger at me, wouldn't be the 1st time.

I agree whole-heartedly with Anton that advance notice of sales would be a VERY GOOD THING. There are such things as budgets, after all. Some of us have to plan our expenditures in advance. It would be very profitable for DAZ if our Poser money for the month went to them instead of to someone else, yes? As for this Platinum Club 30% on top of sale prices controversy, it probably falls under the category of "Truth in Advertising". I am contented with what I had to pay for the items I bought during this sale, but DAZ should probably pay closer attention to the wording of their contract with Platinum Club members, if only for the sake of good customer relations. That said, I was extremely grateful for the $10 coupon given to all customers in the last newsletter. It was a very nice and generous surprise :-) Kimberly

I'm just ecstatic over my 'good fortune' with DAZ as of late.

First, I did an annual renewal of my PC membership thereby garnering mass amounts (in volume & $$) of free products. Then, due to the $30 renewal voucher and the $5 monthly voucher, I was able to buy Mike 3 (upgrade, head morphs, body morphs, hi-rez texture maps) significantly reduced. THEN because of those I got the Freak FREE, Steph2 FREE (when she comes out), and Mike's boots FREE.

Now, DAZ is having a 50% off sale in the PC AND DAZ original items PLUS handing out a coupon for $10 off my entire order!? And hello! there's my $5 monthly voucher G Shoulda seen the skid marks my feet left as I ran off to buy the 'Freak Morphs & Maps' as well as 'Hercules for the Freak' and 'Brutus for Hercules' all for FREE after using my coupon and voucher.

Here's the kicker - the shopping cart process wasn't following my thinking - the $5 would go towards the Premium item & the $10 would reduce the overall amount to nil. It took the $10 off first & wouldn't use the $5 on the PC items (which it's not supposed to anyways). So, I called & explained my dilemma - 'cause I couldn't cancel out the order & free up the coupon again. A very, very nice young lady took care of my situation over the phone - cancelled out my defunct order and set up an order for me the way I envisioned. It took less than 5 minutes. :)

I did ask her, when I noticed the order numbers, if all orders were numbered sequentially as they came in and she said yes. In the space of 3 hours there had been almost 100 orders! That said a lot in terms of how much business (not necessarily the $$) DAZ does on a day-to-day basis and how overall, to me, their customer service is second to none. I know they can't please everyone every time, but percentage-wise, along with the service, pricing, and quality - it's all A's from me.

Frankly, I think they would have been better off expanding the 30% off to everyone....and left the extra 30% for the PC members as usual....it would have made good sense, and they wouldn't have to be dodging any claims with caveats or trying to complicate the agreement with a bunch of "if" statements. Sometimes, it really is best to just keep it simple (which is probably what they thought they were doing...lol) eric
