Subject: Will copying targetGeom from unimesh models to others work?

gagnonrich ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 10:36 AM · edited Mon, 30 December 2024 at 10:28 PM

I bought The Freak morphs and thought it would be interesting to use some of those morphs on M2 and V3, but it didn't work. When I looked at the PZ2s and CR2s, to try to figure out why they wouldn't work, I noticed that there are targetGeom calls for every INJMorph in a figure. I'm guessing that all I'd need to do to share these morphs with other unimesh figures would be to copy and paste the targetGeom entries in the CR2s so that the other figures will accept the injections. Has anybody tried this and did it work? If it does, it would be a cool way to expand the usability of unimesh figures. I wonder what a troll kitty would look like?

Okay, where are these Freak Morphs....I can not find them....why do I not have them? Sharen

Attached Link: Ferak morphs

They were sold separately. Did you buy them?

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 11:54 AM

Head hung down....of embarrasement...."no, she whispers, I did not". I thought I read a post here this morning that said someone got these when they got their Freak for free and I was wondering why I didn't, but as you showed me (thank you) they must be purchased. Sharen

If you've got M3, all his morphs should work with the Freak, so that provides a full range of expressions and facial morphs. I'm not sure, but somebody who does not own M3 might be able to buy the Freak and the M3 morph sets, without purchasing M3, to get a fully expressive Freak. The Freak morphs are specifically set up to work with Freak and add monster looks and such; Orcs, Goblins, etc.

Although M3 and V3 are the same mesh, the divisions between body parts within the mesh are different and that means the vertices don't match and that means that morphs don't transfer from one to the other. Also, in order for an injection to work the character's CR2 must contain the channel to receive it; the Freak CR2 has channels for the M3 morphs, but M3 does not have channels for the Freak morphs (though a bit of work with a text editor should add them, I'd think).

So to be clear, the Freak CAN accept M3's body morphs? Anyone have any tips on getting the Freak's hands and feet to a more proportional size?

musicmajor111 ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 2:26 PM

P.S. I do already have M3 along with M3's Head and Body Morphs from Daz.

plmcelligott ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 2:44 PM

According to DAZ, if I understand, Freakie can accept M3 head morphs but not body morphs.

musicmajor111 ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 3:02 PM

O.K. So if the Freak can only accept M3 head morphs, then what other options are left to morph his body other than buying the Daz Freak body morphs (which from what I can tell are mainly just more "freakish" kinds of morphs or making him into other kinds of creatures. (I just want a more muscular, but proportional (hands, feet, shins, etc) male figure as an alternative to M3).

There are three Freak-specific morphs that do a pretty good job of making him more like a big muscular man; BodySoft, Wirey, and the Mike 3 Head Morph. Here's a quick picture of him with the Hercules clothing from DAZ and the BodySoft and Mike 3 Head morphs applied. However, there still isn't any way that I know of to reduce his giant hands and feet. Once we get that problem solved though, he'll be a really flexible figure. :) SnowS

I do not speak as a representative of DAZ, I speak only as a long-time member here. Be nice (and quit lying about DAZ) and I'll be nice too.

Thanks. I contacted Daz and they pointed out that the Freak can accept M3's head morphs, but only SOME of the M3 body morphs (there is supposedly an inj pose that comes with the Freak Morphs that will inject all compatible M3 BODY morphs). I surmise then, that even injecting these M3 body morphs do not allow for tweaking the hand and feet size?

Below is the complete list of all Michael 3 body morphs. Morphs without an asterisk can be injected into The Freak. Anything with an asterisk is not available (and won't be seen when all the M3 body morphs are applied). I'm just showing them so that people can see what won't work. Wow. I find it amazing that such basic muscle groups such as the pecs and rectus abdominus do not have their own muscularity settings in the Freak. Anyone had any luck reducing the size of his big limbs, hands and feet?

elgyfu ( ) posted Wed, 05 November 2003 at 2:24 AM

It seems that Daz have created a monster! Well, if the Freak was able to use all Mike 3's morphs then one could just buy Freak and the Mike morphs and have a fully working Freak and Mike 3! And the Freak is cheaper than Mike! Though of course, if they are from identical mesh and both contain expression morphs only then one wonders why they are not the same price?

RHaseltine ( ) posted Wed, 05 November 2003 at 5:45 AM

elgyfu: the M3 morphs only give movement information, applying one to the Freak would not produce the same effect as applying one to M3, because the starting points would be different. You would need a Freak->M3 morph, as well as recut mesh in this case, for the M3 morphs + Freak to give you M3. (It's like one of those treasure maps that says "east ten paces, north 4 paces, down twelve steps, east five paces": starting in the library will take you to the treasure, starting in the master bedroom will land you in the duck pond.)

rreynolds ( ) posted Wed, 05 November 2003 at 11:34 AM

So who's going to make a pose file for Freak that load all the Mike 3 morphs that he supports...? DAZ already did that. There's already an All Freak M3 Body and Head pose with the Freak morph expansion set.

tonymouse ( ) posted Wed, 05 November 2003 at 11:35 AM

I hate to be the one to point this out but When m3 came out he was too girly and slightly built, now that the Freak is out all you want to do is pear him down?? you all are silly!!! Tony

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Wed, 05 November 2003 at 2:06 PM

I did notice that a lot of the M3 morphs have different names in the Freak morphs ... I think the heavy morph is there as is the pecs but just in a diferent form.

rreynolds ( ) posted Wed, 05 November 2003 at 7:26 PM

I think they have different names because they are different morphs unique to the Freak's oversized physical form. It's not a straight M3 import.
