Subject: Someone want to help me with a render?

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Fri, 02 January 2004 at 11:49 AM · edited Tue, 04 February 2025 at 4:47 AM

I can't get this scene to render in Daz Studio. I've let it sit for 3 hours and it didn't even get to 1%. Apparently it DOES start to render but... Now I know that I am on the short side of Ram so I thought it would be interesting if someone with a lot of Ram (anything beyond my 256 mb...) could actually get it to render. Of course it means that you got to have the models in the picture, .daz files only reference the files, unlike Poser's file format. But that also mean that it should be safe to redistribute .daz files. So, Do you have: 1.: Ram 2.: Arizona character 3.: Arizona Clothes 4.: Arizona Hair 5.: The new texture pack for Arizona Hair 6.: Temple Ruins 7.: Dark Whisper's free SoothSayer axe 8.: Skydome from RDNA then download the .daz HERE and please tell me the result :o)

Ernyoka,I seem to have have all the models mentioned mentioned except ram.(is that a model?) or are you referring to the amount of ram? I have 1.5 gigs so that should be enough.I have downloaded your scene and tried to load it in D/S,but all I end up with is a black screen when I try to render. Is there lights initiated? arrow1

Hmm there should be 1 light present, but the little corner of the picture that I actually got rendered before I quit (about 5 or the little squares in 3 hours...) were all black. So feel free to add a light or 2 :o) Can you actually see the scene when you load it?! I had someone telling me that they couldn't even load it :o)

You might try posting your reply in the Daz forum, Dave-So has a thread regarding what's in a .daz file. We're discussing the inability to open other people's files there right now :o)

Hi ernyoka- A Scandinavian Fantasy Babe like you should have MORE RAM than just 256MB! I have no idea how you have been able to make all the models and other stuff you do with only that amount. I don't know what OS you are running, but the OS alone is already taking a chunk of that RAM, so you are probably running below 200MB- then there is Program (DS-Poser) overhead as well- so down even LOWER!. Finally, loading textures, surface calculations, etc. and you are talking about CHOKE CITY! I hope your hubby could get you another 256MB simm (depending upon slot availability) or some folks here at REN who love your work and contributions could get together and smuggle into Denmark some RAM because its pretty cheap here in the USA. Don't know what the Euro pricing plus TAX-TAX-TAX is there. I've found that models link Hankster's Temple Ruins and the Warroak sailing ship, with skydome, lights, water surface, etc. quickly eats TONS of RAM. I honestly think that if you are really hooked on 3D rendering and the BIGGER SCENE concepts you need at LEAST around 1 to 1.5MB, and preferrably "good stuff", so you won't have RAM glitch or render lock-ups. Win2K and XP Pro do a tremendously better job handling big Poser and DS scenes than early XP releases, and GOD FORBID- Windows 98SE!

Heh Veritas, I keep hearing about cheap Ram, then I look in the stores and thinks "Cheap? My a..." But you're right, I really really neeeed more Ram, and it's been on the "to-buy" list for a long time. I hope to get it really soon now :o) Or perhaps I should just take the Ram out of hubby's machine - They're identical (so far) but... I DO think he'll notice though G Oh and I'm running WinXP Home :o) Funny btw, The Temple Ruins load very fast and I can turn the camera to my heart's desire in Daz Studio. I just can't RENDER them :o(
