Hi Blush :-) As far as pictures go, when you upload to the writers gallery, you can include 1 image of up to 300 x 300 pixels to accompany your words and of course a thumbnail. The same rules for thumbnails apply to the Writers gallery as to the rest of the galleries. If someone printed your work and said that it was theirs, then they would be taking your work. I believe most magazines do not take submissions of previously published work, so if you have already posted something on the internet or had it in print you probably will not be able to get it published. (But I could be wrong, I'm not an expert) When you view someones work in the galleries, you will see a button that says vote. If you really like an image/piece of writing you can click on the button to vote for it. The 20 pieces with the most votes in a week go into the Hot 20, so if you are in it, this is because some people liked your work enough in the last 7 days to vote for it. Hope that is some help :-) Shanna.

Here is a link to a tutorial on uploading images to the gallery. Just as you must own the writing that you post, you must also either own the image you post, or have permission to repost from the person who owns the copyright. Most people here make their own images, then resize them to 300x300. As far as your work being copied and passed off as someone elses goes... Yes, it is against the law. Sadly, that doesn't stop some people:-( Shanna. If your so worried about someone popping up and plagarizing your work then there a two solutions: 1) Use your real name instead of a handle and 2) Go through the formal process of getting the material together and legally copyrighting it. It'll cost you some money. I find that most material I read is so similar it could have come from anywhere and I'm not so vain to think that my writing is so totally awesome that nobody anywhere would have though of something similar. If I were going to write to sell rather than to "get known" I wouldn't put it out there in the first place until the bucks were on the table. If your writing to "get known" then posting in as many places as possible is your route to claim a piece. Courts will always go by the earliest date. I view copyright infringement as a very serious matter so much so that I use images from my camera most of the time rather than clip art. My family is often seen in my pictures because anyone else's picture being printed or posted should have a release signed. If you have any other questions or concerns I believe you should address them to the copyright forum (if its still here) or the administrators.
Thanks for your information
