I got to thinking the other day, then got to fooling around with the V3 bodyshirt. I started out fighting with morphs to turn it into Diana's bodice, then came screaming as I realized that these wonderful, perfect morphs of mine... Screwed with the mapping horribly. So, back to the texturing board. I figured the best I could do would be a flat, matte looking set of armor for Diana. Boy was I pleasantly surprised when I found out that P5 has this wonderful little setting called "Transparency Edge". I daaaanced.... and danced... Total time from start to finish? MAYBE nine hours, including fighting with that darn belt. If anyone wants the texture and transmap, I'll share.

I thought the shadows came if your transmap wasn't all black? Or if your transparency falloff wasn't 0?

Ern, those shadows came because I had my highlight set. Which is the only reason the texture didn't look completely dull and lifeless, like in this shot.

Well, my version is current. That version, though you can't tell it because of the scarily large boobs, is the TV series costume. Billy did great work on it. However, her bracelets are too long and they should be silver, the stars on them being gold. The boots, also, should come up into a point.

... If I had made Superman, no one would have dared posting this type of stuff. Maybe I'm just being a prude, but this is a character I've loved and respected since childhood. I started this thread to find out if people were interested in the texture, and the images others have posted has made me decide not to do it. I'm sorry. I have too much respect for the character to allow my hard work to be the latest jerk off material on Renderotica. Erotic artwork was NOT what started this thread, and I resent that that's what it's become.

A pity, but pretty understandable IMHO :) You might want to check out the work done on trying to replicate Lynda Carter's face (or not). can't recall the URL offhand, but they've got a yahoo group. Try searching this forum for "celebrities" and you should find it. Cheers, Cliff

elektra ( ) posted Sat, 24 April 2004 at 5:41 AM

I've never understood this whole facination with big boobs either. Those images/renders would look so much better without them being large enough to cause the woman to fall over. And this last one with the absurd boots is just lame. Khrys - I'm sorry that you feel that way, but I do understand it. I would likely feel the same way. I've been a Wonder Woman fan since I was a kid. I read her way back then and I just started to read her again in the last few weeks. I would hate to see the character treated so poorly as well.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Sat, 24 April 2004 at 5:48 AM

Elektra, the artists themselves are very talented. Mason, obviously, was talented enough to convert the costume, and Phantast enough to completely make that texture. It's just very insulting and upsetting to see my favorite character degraded in such a manner, whether it was intended or not. And I feel for you, if you're reading Rucka's run. Jimenez has done the best work on her to date, aside from Perez. And Cliff, check in my gallery. I had a lot of success reproducing Lynda on the p4 woman.

Looking pretty good, but IMHO the guys at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/3d_celebrities/ Have done a stunning job. It's a pity it's not a standard mesh in many ways (it's a facegen result, so not a HUGE amount of use to me even if I could get my hands on it). Sample attached :) Cheers, Cliff

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Sat, 24 April 2004 at 6:40 AM

I've seen it. It's a well done face, yes, but like you said, Cliff, it'd be useless to us, because we don't have the proper stuff for it. Personally, the texturing on the face could be better, but I imagine they used a small photo to do it. Phantast, how did you get that gorgeous shine to only show up in the sections it should, on the gold?

Kreations By Khrys

Phantast ( ) posted Sat, 24 April 2004 at 9:36 AM

I said it was not something done seriously, and I never previously posted that image anywhere. It's actually not even meant to be Wonder Woman, only someone dressed up as her, but I won't go into that. It wasn't intended to offend, only to demonstrate that the PhilC teddy makes quite a good superheroine costume, and the WW props (which I think are by Joat Mon, or possibly by Quagnon, or possibly a mixture) can also fit V3. But again, I don't treat any comic character with the reverence that elektra seems to wish for. Especially not WW; you should maybe look into the early social history of that character - or again, maybe not. The gold is a nice trick, isn't it? I use a specularity map to control which parts of the costume are shiny and reflective and which aren't.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Sat, 24 April 2004 at 9:50 AM

Phantast, I know. WW's history is wraught with bondage. It's not, however, full of T&A. That didn't come until Dedato. The props you're using are by Joat Mon and Phil H, if I remember correctly.

Ok, since some people are so sensitive and can't handle it I removed my images. Sorry they were too intense. I just wanted to show how the Billy T suit looks converted to V3.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Sat, 24 April 2004 at 2:43 PM

Mason, it's not about being intense. It's about having common sense and good taste. There was nothing tasteful about those huge breasts, quite frankly. As to make up: Diana (Wonder Woman) doesn't wear make up. It's established. More than once. I can point to one of the issues.

Kreations By Khrys

Phantast ( ) posted Sat, 24 April 2004 at 4:50 PM

I've followed Mason's lead. You can tell Wyrmmaster you don't like his character.

Mason ( ) posted Sat, 24 April 2004 at 5:02 PM

Sorry guys but quite frankly the Billy T suit is fantastic, very well detailed and blows the socks off what you showed. Even in the comics WW doesn't have repeating stars on her shorts like in the first pic you showed. Usually 3 large ones in front and back. And you could at least use a bump map to raise some details on the suit like the stars or the W on her chest. As it is it looks like the thing is sprayed on her, which I could make all sorts of sexist comments about that as well. As for breast size, that's both of your hang ups, not mine. I certainly don't see anyone complaining about the size of the male genitals on the gay art. Also your figure is pretty darn busty as well. Those aren't B-cups. Make up is always an art issue. Using limited colors, artists won't mess with make up. I'm sure the comic book has some lame excuse for this but its really so artists don't have to mess with make up. Batgirl, Huntress and a whole lot of other heroines don't wear make up either, at least none you can see. The Billy suit has a natural ploom in the front. The actual bust size of the girl is probably the same as yours. Again, sorry you can't see the rather obvious gap around the cups. Common sense is also a logical fallacy. You got your opinions and so be it, anal and conservative as they may be. Sorry you feel that full figured women are "ho's" as when she was refered to as Wonder Ho. It really is a matter of the pot calling the kettle black. I don't see your WW being flat chested nor weighing 300 lbs, all of which represent women as well. I also wasn't aware WW was your sole property. I just wanted to share pics and show a different suit. Sorry you couldn't handle it. Two people wanted to show you guys what they accomplished, how they used seperate maps to get gold reflect etc and to give tips and share. Instead you both act like anal comic fan boys and get all sensitive and you skip all that cause you can't get past some breasts.

It's like Woah! Suddenly I've gone from a nice wonder woman thread to someone going off on someone else for a posting that's no longer there and makes no friggin' sense whatsoever! As for this Reverence for comic book heros crud, grow up! They're comic books! Fiction! Not Real! Imaginary! IE: They look like whatever you want them to look like in your head! Stop being so hypersensitive to artistic interpretations people! After all, Wonder Woman is NOT The Virgin Mary Mother of Christ. You're not supposed to worship the woman in the first place.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 1:48 AM

Steve: I don't worship Diana. I respect the character a great deal. And yes. It was a nice Wonder Woman thread until two people decided to post their huge breasted artwork that had little if nothing to do with the topic at hand. It was basically 'Look at me! Look at me!' from both of them. I asked, simply, if anyone wanted the set. I got hit with breasts big enough to give SUPERMAN whiplash.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 1:50 AM

Mason... What comics have you read, exactly? I'm sitting right here with the trade paperback of Paradise Lost, which is barely over a year old and was illustrated by Phil Jimenez. The ONLY time Diana has had less than five stars on either side? When lazy ass Jim Byrne or some other lazy artist drew her. As for colorists having a problem with make up... Get with the 21st century. They do their coloring and printing on COMPUTERS now, which are these wonderful, amazing things that allow for a large variety of colors. Diana simply doesn't wear make up because it hides flaws, which is, since she's the physical embodiment of truth. As for 'That bust size is the same as my figure's'... Bull. Mine's the frickin' V3 default bust size, buddy, just raised a little with Breast Lift. Mine's also the size that Diana is most commonly depicted as having in the Phil Jimenez arc. And who cares if it's B OR C or even D, if it's done WELL. Breasts aren't HALF SPHERES that sit ON the chest. They're a natural part OF the chest. As for the Billy-T suit blowing the socks off my work? Again, bull. Billy made a costume based on a television series that's OLDER THAN I AM, and the texturing is horribly flawed, considering that the entire front of the 'panty' area was covered with stars that went down in an upside down triangle, same in the back, and there should be no black lines around the stars. It entirely depends on HOW you mean it blows the socks off mine. I'm not a modeller. I never pretended to be. I made a MODERN costume. Not something from before I was BORN. I didn't WANT to do the TV series Wonder Woman costume. Oh, yeah. You call that dinky piece of thread a lasso? What the hell is she tying up, mice? It's a ninety foot long lasso made of chainlinks. In short, I know more about Diana and her costume than you, don't try to bluff me. Wanna know why it's red white and blue when they're from an island that's been closed off for the last three thousand years? A US fighter pilot named Diana Trevor crash landed on Paradise Island and died fighting to save the Amazons from a demon that had escaped Doom's Doorway, which is basically a gateway to hell. The Amazons beat the demon back, and Diana Trevor was honored as a hero. They found a badge on her uniform that was something to do with the American flag, and mistook it as her personal banner. They had their blacksmiths create two sets of armor from this design. One, Diana Trevor was buried in. The other was saved back. As for my Diana not being representative of real women? She's not supposed to be. She's representative of the character. She was sculpted from clay by Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons and brought to life by five goddesses and a god, who granted her with her superhuman powers.

As for my hang ups? Yes, I don't like it when I see women reduced to 'heh heh, boobs'. That's why I won't buy any of Wyrm Master's stuff. I use Poser to create semi-realistic art. The only women you see with breasts THAT large are either heavy in the rest of their body as well, or have had surgery. And it wasn't just SOME breasts, Mason. It was breasts that were bigger than her head, and Phantast had the lack of taste to post them with nipples poking out. Don't TELL me it was 'normal breasts' when you yourself said you'd used Wyrmmaster's sets to scale them up. Mine's using the default V3 morphs, only, which don't GET that scarily huge. Oh, and Mason, don't make me out to be a shrieking right wing conservative. I have no problem if you guys want to post your art, and yes, it IS art, in the gallery or your own thread, ETC. However. This thread was simply me trying to find out who wanted my texture set. And since if I include a 'You can't use this for pornographic or tasteless images' no one will listen anyway... I'll just not share it. I'd forgotten that there were people who were merely out there to get off on the idea of a super hero with huge breasts falling out of her costume trying to fight crime.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 2:07 AM

And one last thing: Gay porn. Who brought up gay porn? Yes, I'm gay. Yes, I like looking at other men naked. Does that mean I there by like looking at penises larger than the men themselves? No. I complain about unrealistic genitals on men as much as I do about unrealistic breasts. There was no gay porn anywhere in this thread. So either you went and did some research for argument fodder, or you made a leap and assumed that since Ratteler and I didn't like your disgustingly big breasted woman, we must be gay. I won't presume to speak for Ratteler, because I don't KNOW his sexuality, but even if I were straight, I'd find those breasts disgusting and overly large... And Mason, feel free to repost the images, so others can SEE what we're arguing about and so, if I AM wrong, I can apologise for BEING a bitch.

Phantast ( ) posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 2:42 AM

Good God sir you presume too much. Don't tell me what my motivations were. I already told you that picture wasn't originally intended to see the light of day. I have many sketches from half-done projects scattered around and that was one of them. I needed a V3 character and VV was the first that came to hand. I couldn't find sensible boots that fitted so I used silly ones. And the nipples that you found so tasteless were an accident in the transmapping that I never got round to fixing. My only reason for posting the picture at all, as I already told you, was to demonstrate PhilC's garment as an option. My advice to you is to read a lot LESS comics.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 2:49 AM

Phantast: I don't even read the WW comic anymore. I'm poor and can't afford it. However, there IS a little thing called taste. When someone makes a post, you should try to keep the rating level to that of the original post, just as a general rule of thumb, and not knock it up into the rated R section. If you never meant for something to see the light of day, it probably shouldn't. And yes, her lingere DOES make a good costume... if transmapped right. Now, a question: How does one make a specularity map work properly? I've been fiddling and can't figure it out.

elektra ( ) posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 6:39 AM

Well, let me chime in on a few comments directed my way. Yes, this is a fictional character and I've been aware of that for sometime now. I treat the character with a bit a reverance for what she stood for, in my life, when I was growing up. I didn't read a lot of the very early stuff, because I was too young at the time. And I don't expect everyone will treat a fictional character the same way. Phantast - why didn't you just use V3? Why did you have to use a character? If it was never intended to see the light of day, why did you feel the need to post it here? Was there a reason why you didn't want it to see the light of day? Mason - had nothing to do with intensity or me being sensitive and more to do with bad taste. Steve - I don't "worship" Wonder Woman or the Virgin Mary. Khrys - I agree with pretty much everything you said and your position. Ratteler - I have mixed feelings on organic webshooters, but if bitten by a spider and he picks up all the other aspects of the spider, wouldn't somehow generating his own webs would seem logical.

elektra ( ) posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 6:41 AM

As a side note, I'm looking at the cover of the graphic novel Wonder Woman - Gods and Mortals. By Perez, it's the story of Wonder Woman's origin. Guess what? Khrys has the bottom of the outfit quite correct. There are stars all over the bottom.

elektra ( ) posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 6:43 AM

Khrys - also, for yourself, if you have Vicki's Changing Fantasy Suit, one of the boot morphs will give you the pointed top if I'm not mistaken. All you would need to do is a map for it.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 6:50 AM

Elektra, yeah, I know about the nifty changing fantasy's boots. Anton does excellent work. Mason and Phantast, I'd like to publically apologise for being so bitchy with you both. I know it's not a good reason, and merely an excuse, but I'd almost fallen off a ladder earlier and got a face full of boxes, thus was already cranky when I posted my long tirade. Forgive me for my bitchiness. I do still intend to share this file, though it will be a few more days, as I'm not happy with it as is. Working on two versions, now. One with a painted on belt and one without. After that, I intend to do a Hippolyta version of the costume, which is close to the Silver Age version. I've also considered making a transmap to the body shirt and making the 'panties' directly on V3 because I personally think they're a bit high cut.

Phantast ( ) posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 6:55 AM

"Phantast - why didn't you just use V3? Why did you have to use a character? " Because that's the way I work. "If it was never intended to see the light of day, why did you feel the need to post it here? " Because I didn't have a better picture to illustrate the point and I didn't have time to make one. "Was there a reason why you didn't want it to see the light of day?" It was a sketch towards a project that never got completed, and not a very good image of itself. But I thought it was interesting that the Quagnon WW costume texture (for P4 leotard) could be adapted to fit the PhilC teddy. Is that all clear now? Heavens, I even bothered to click the nudity flag for half a nipple showing.

A heads up is common courtesy and I appreciate commond courtesty. If I came across as bitchy, I would also like to apologize. I was not intending to, but sometimes it's hard to tell, with no facial expressions and such. My pet peeve is when people have nudity in the image and either don't flag it at all, include it in the thumbnail; or mark it nudity, but still have nudity in the thumbnail. The whole point of the flag is for those who don't want to view it and those who need to be careful when they view it. If you flag it nudity and then include the nudity in the thumbnail, you've defeated the entire point of the flag.

Grief people! (and that's enough from me on THAT topic!). elektra: Where would an organic web shooter grow on dear ole petey though? I wouldn't have thought that his wrists would, genetically speaking, be the prime candidate... but I think more acuurate might well gross out a large proportion of the potential audience! Khrys: Try using a transmap as a specularity map for practise purposes. It's basiclaly the same kind of technique, except using "shinyness" instead of "transparency". Cheers, Cliff

It depends - a lot of spiders are also pretty hairy all over, which didn't seem to affect Mr. Parker. Which genetic traits are carried over, and how, seems to be largely restricted to what'd be useful. I have to agree that if you want "web" shooting from the wrists, I'd have found a technological solution easier to accept as credible. As for having to scratch his balls every time he wanted to web sling, that SO put a picture of Ted (?) Bundy (Married with Children) in my head that I cannot shake (uuugh - thanks man).
