Honda have varous models available at their site. Not in Poser format, so you have to convert them. They are also in "kit" form, so you have to fit them together, too. Oh, and the site is in Japanese. Have fun. :)Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
That's interesting! Auto companies have always given away little tin or plastic models of the latest cars, for promotion. So in the modern world, give little digital models! Makes sense.

IW4-3D has some great vehicles and bikes - they are having a sale so you can get some real bargains now. Be sure to look at their military vehicles and aircraft too. the models are supurb and Poser-ready.A couple of people have apparently succeeded (and those models look good), but is anyone else having problems getting into the Honda site linked above? I can get to the pages with all the bits of each model, but the actual part d/l page hangs with most of the graphics in limbo and a screenful of Japanese text I can't read...
For that matter, is there a link somewhere on the model pages to d/l all the parts at once? Looks like there's a choice of .dxf or Lightwave format -- which would be easiest to work with in my Poser 4 system? (I already know not all .lwo files are created equal, so to speak...)

You can only import the .lwo files if you have Pro-Pack or Poser 5. To read the text a bit easier, use a translator service :)I only have Poser 4, but I've found the .lwo files can be converted into .obj format in 3D Exploration. Just one problem that I haven't worked out how to fix yet — the material colours come through OK doing it this way, but the only two parts I've tried so far (the body shell and interior of one of the cars) came into Poser the same size and centred.
Looks good, though, once I have the parts rescaled and positioned. Am I right in thinking I can use UVMapper to set up texture layouts for the .obj files? (Yes, I am that new at this game.)
Is there any way of retaining the size and position info when I convert? There are quite a few export options in 3D Exploration I haven't figured out yet. Help, anyone?
Raven, I did uncheck all the Poser import options. (Oops, including the "Make polygon normals consistent" — is that important? Should that always be left checked?) I think I might have messed up a bit with the export from 3D Exploration. There's a "Geometry Transform" option in the Save As dialog, that allows the exported object to be scaled and positioned... hold on... I think I got it. Looking at the dialog again, I had those exports set at "Fit size to 1 unit" and "Position center". Which is exactly what happened. I'll have another go and see what happens with different settings... (Is anyone else out there still using 3D Exploration?)
AccuTrans 3d also works. i had some trouble bringing one part in to P5 (kept locking up P5). i opened it in AccuTrans and saved it and poser brought it right up.

This little beauty is Honda's RA-272 Formula 1 car from 1965, rendered in plain old Poser 4 with DAZ Globals Outdoor lighting. All I did was add a transparency setting to the windscreen. Pretty, isn't it?
Now, where was that Japanese site with all those "Race Queen" clothes and props...
Problem is, I remember when racing cars looked like this!
I remember when they were hand-cranked ....

I've got a question, now. Is the Poser 4 manual detailed enough to let me turn this into a posable character model, or are there online tutorials out there that could do a better job?
