THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Importing .bto

LunarTick ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2004 at 12:41 PM · edited Tue, 21 January 2025 at 7:18 PM

Can someone tell me how do i import a .bto file into bryce or where i put it please.

pogmahone ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2004 at 1:07 PM

If you look in your Bryce folder, open the Presets folder and you'll see various folders. One is named Trees. You can drag or paste the .bto file into that folder. Take a note of the name of the file. Then when you want to use it, Alt+click on the tree icon in the Create menu. This will bring up a list of all the files in your Tree folder, select the one you want to use.

Where I come from bto is a famous 1970s Canadian rock band (Bachman, Turner Overdrive). Rock on baby!!! ;-) Oh, yeah. What pog said.

I asked a question on importing the file not what you thought bto stood for. No wonder i don't ask many questions on here.

Nukeboy ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2004 at 10:28 PM

I went to school with Bachman's little sister, Jennifer :-)

Aldaron ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2004 at 11:41 PM

A little testy there lunar. pog gave you your answer and then the others were just having some fun. Lighten up a bit :)

LunarTick ( ) posted Fri, 08 October 2004 at 2:00 AM

Aldaron, i might be a little testy. Lucky for most i'm only a little testy today :) Problem is when somene new asks for advice or help with something they don't expect a dozen postings like what this. Anyway never mind i had my question answered, still unable to get the tree i want so i'll just remove the bto file and try to do what i want with the ones that come with bryce.

silly postings add a warm fuzzy feeling to a forum, and most people enjoy them :^P
And people on this forum never shout rude things like RTFM when someone asks a simple question like "how do i import a .bto file into bryce".

pogmahone now that i have got over my testy mood i can but do nothing more than agree with you. Oh well there is one thing i can do. Sorry to those that were just having a bit of light fun with this post. A bad nights sleep, early wake up and being a little frustrated because i completely stuffed up a WIP i was working on for the October Speed Challenge made me that way. Now all i have to do is figure out when i finish this project, what would be the best render for it or should i be silly and ask on the forum LOL

Iwouldn't go saying that Bryster, have you tried oil painting :p Much easier than using bryce ;)

Jcleaver ( ) posted Fri, 08 October 2004 at 8:23 AM

Oil painting is great! But it is so darn expensive. I end up having to replace my monitor every time I try it. Can't seem to get the paint off! j/k

LunarTick ( ) posted Fri, 08 October 2004 at 9:15 AM

try using turps then :p
