i don't much use poser, but, do use the figures....render in bryce, mostly...but, have moved on to modelling which has become a habit and a half!!! i posted a reply to a message in the bryce forum to someone who modelled some chairs in wings. a reply that i got seemed pretty demeaning to the whole poser community, here. not that i'm a fan of nviatws, or any of that, but, well...what do you guys think?

Can't say I'm that surprised by his comment, it's a form of stereotyping. "ooh look I put a naked Vicky in a temple with a sword" "ooh look I put a tree next to a mountain & changed the sky colour" "ooh look I made a kettle in my 3000+ modelling application" Ignore & move on with a laugh & a smile :D

Nothing new, so dont feel bad happens in that forum a lot if you go there. I sometimes render in Bryce myself. I don't see what the big deal is tho? Don't fret it and don't take it to heart est advice anyone can give. Poser renders crappy for the most part so I really don't see anything wrong with rendering the image in another program but I guess some people do. Go figure? ;)

Put it this way..... some people will consider this forum, let alone the creations done by its members, as porn. He's been visiting the Poser Forum. If not, then why does he know whats in here? An innocent look? Oh my virgin eyes and ears..... LOL... Think nothing of it. There were open-minded ones who were on your side. You have to expect detractors along the way. btw, if there was a chair like that in the market, I would be interested. Better throw in a side table or something to hold drinks. Cheers

Lucifer_The_Dark ( ) posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 11:52 AM

Hang on a sec, you're telling me there's porn posted in this forum somewhere? I have got to find it hehehehehe

Put it this way..... some people will consider this forum, let alone the creations done by its members, as porn. porn n : creative activity (writing or pictures or films etc.) of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire [syn: pornography, porno] And I thought my work had some redeeming value, shucks:(

And I saith unto thee, Poppi: Don't worry about it. There will always be detractors of Poser because they forget it's not the tool you use but what you do with it. So it goes. RC Who thinks that she might make something, put a Poser figure in it, and postwork a big red arrow pointing at her erogenous zones and adding a note: "NOTE DISTANCE BETWEEN HAND AND THIS AREA".

Thankfully not everyone on the Bryce forum is as narrow minded. But the chairs look excellent and I wouldn't mind having one myself. tehehe 8)

zippyozzy ( ) posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 1:20 PM

Er, if you take a real and I do mean 'real close look at some of Bryce's freestuff and the galleries they are mixing poser props with bryce, so, I still don't understand the diff how you render an image as long as you render it. They shouldn't complain cos I bet 90 percent of their stuff was made in Poser just imported to Bryce. (mho)

nickedshield ( ) posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 1:58 PM

z1ppozzy, I don't think the methodolgy of rendering was the cause of the comments but rather the pose of Vicky. With my demented humor I would redo the scene into a winter tobogganing with a tree positioned at the appropriate place and not change the pose.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Hey... I don't visit the Bryce forum because most of the mountains look like boobs. White snocapped nipples. The trees look like hair between the breasts.

Hairy chested big breasted white snocapped nipples from mars.

On second thought, maybe I will go brows that forum. I'm getting aroused!

"pogmahone" is bastardised Irish (Gaelic) for "P mo h" "kiss" or in some cases "lick my ass/hole."
Thus we have the Irish group "the Pogues" or "the kissers."

"pog ma hone" is commonly used in every day language here in Ireland to tell people to feck off (another Irishism).

I just had to share this with all of you. ;0)

I posted my opinion in that thread.

xantor ( ) posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 5:15 PM

The poguesname was shortened from pogue mahone because of complaints that the full name was offensive, I suppose ass kissers didnt like it being used that way. ;)

Phantast ( ) posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 7:17 PM

This is REALLY not worth the effort.

I am sick of poser being denigrated in other forums, so I think this is worth the effort.

"pog ma hone" is commonly used in every day language here in Ireland to tell people to feck off (another Irishism). Question for you, please. :-) There's a pub in Melbourne called "Pug Mahoney's" (with a picture of a pug dog on the sign). I assume this is a play on "pog ma hone", which is kinda funny (always wondered about the name of that place). But how is "mah hone" pronounced? Does it sound like the actual surname Mahoney? Just wondering if people with that last name have to put up with a lot of shite because their name sounds like "my arse". :-) bonni

I'll bow to Storm as the final authority, since my branch of the Donovans are three generations removed from counties Cork and Kilpatrick - but as near as I can tell, the pronounciation is (approximately) poke ma hone. Those poor Mahoneys... I've got room to talk - Donovan in Gaelic means something like "little brown poet."

All the times I've tried to be offensive and all I had to do was model a chair...

lmckenzie ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2005 at 2:17 AM

Considering all the howling that goes on here about Vicky's boobs, pornographic pedo-faeries, voracious vaginas etc. is it any surprise that some Bryceopian gets a little apoplectic over an image?

you want to stir up a real storm go and ask about selling commercial products for Bryce. Theres a reason PoserWorld will never start a BryceWorld site now. The thing that cracks me up is that DAZ bought Bryce .. snerk so guess whats paying for Bryce development? sales of Vicky3! lol Lyrra "I dont hold my grudges .. I cherish and pamper them"

(snap) Almost had another one. Better luck next time, Mac... ;P As for the Bryce thread... Behold...The Ball. It is Reflective. It Hovers over a plain of vitural water. Or near Others of Its Kind. It is a Cool Ball. Takes damned near forever to render, but it is still Cool. Behold...The Terrain. It is Fractal. It looks better when covered. But not with Reflection Maps. And even better when textured properly in the materials room by an expert. All Nine of Them. What is a Vicky doing in Our World? Sin! Porn! It is a Human Body! Uckies Uckies Uckies! Who Cares if there are Clothes on a Vicky! WE know what is REALLY under there! Uckies Uckies Uckies! Our World is Good. Our World is Pure. What do you =mean= the Owners of Vicky own Bryce Now?!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!!!

Frankly, I'm much more disturbed by the undercurrent of attitude that says a woman who isn't sitting ramrod straight with her knees nailed together is being a slut. If a man was in that exact same pose, it'd be "lounging". Put a woman in it, and it's "erotic". Double standard, anyone?

zippyozzy ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2005 at 6:59 AM

I don't think the methodolgy of rendering was the cause of the comments but rather the pose of Vicky. Oh, Ok. But, that's what Vickie does best. ;) Tee Hee

zippyozzy ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2005 at 7:13 AM

PS: Just would like to add: I've been a Poser addict for almost a whole year now and love Poser4 and I did invest in the orginal Vicky model and may updrage so I can get V3 and M3. I never looked at the Poser figures as porn, just a nude figure I can dress and play with and have a bit of fun. Bryce is pretty boring, just rendering landscapes all day is not my idea of fun. I use it and yes I've learned a lot and don't usually slam products but hearing people slam Poser in these other forums is starting to piss me of a little. I think Poser is a great program. I have learned so much since using it I can't see using anything else even tho I would like to make my own models and props someday in the near future. Hell as a female, I wish I had Vicky's figure lol. :P (my 2 cents worth)

nickedshield ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2005 at 9:05 AM

FyreSpiryt, double standard? Always has been and always will be. Since it's the primary function of a female of the animal kingdom, which humans are part of, to carry on the species it natural for them to try to attract a suitable mate by whatever means. That's what they were built to do.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

I like it when someone says "I am not a prude but whoever made this picture is a demon from hell and should be killed." ;)

SamTherapy ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2005 at 1:20 PM

"I like it when someone says "I am not a prude..."" Or racist, or narrow minded, or any other negative thing a person could be. You just know when a statement begins with the above that they surely are.

Let's not forget the other favorite escape clause, "I don't mind but the children..." I think people are actually being honest when they say, "I'm not a prude/racist/etc." Few people see themselves that way. If I'm not fazed by NVIATWAS then clearly, I'm not prudish. Being offended by two nude Mikes holding hands clearly isn't prudery, right? Being able to work with people of another race obviously shows you're not a racist. Being opposed to interracial marriage is just the natural order of things, no? Tolerance is being able to move beyond the ingrained prejudices that we all have to at least accept that other people believe differently without feeling a need to trumpet our own virtue in their faces at every opportunity. It works both ways but I seldom see anyone being called a prude without them having first implied that someone else was a pervert. People should feel free to express their opinions but sometimes silence is more virtuous than voicing offense IMO. I think that the world was moving slowly toward increased tolerance but lately it seems that various political, religious and other forces are intent on rallying the troops for battle. Tolerance is now a sign of weakness. "Our values are being attacked, we must fight back or else..." Sad, but that's the way things seem to be going from my perspective.
