Thx Michelle for another valuable link. I don't use Photoshop, I have PSP9, but I find the links you post always informative and interesting you are quickly filling my favourites folder :) I assume the curves function in PSP dos exactly the same as in Photoshop - nearly all articles in mags and tutorials on the web seem to be for photoshop perhaps I got the wrong software :( Richard.

Don't know Carlos they few and far between, perhaps we shall have to write our own converting the PS to PSP. I recently got hold of a CD produced by Jasc on enhancing photos with PSP9 and that helped loads.

You are very welcome guys! Unfortunately I've gotten a bit out of touch with PSP. I made the dive into Photoshop5 and all but stopped using PaintShopPro. Strangely enough I bought the upgrades, installed them, never used them. I even have PSP 8 installed, but I've not used it once.... They've changed so much in it that I have to pull out the manual to figure out how to perform simple functions that I could do blind-folded in Photoshop. And since Corel took over the product I'll not be updating further.... However most of the functions that one can do in PS can be done in PSP...... which is great. The only issue I have with it, is it's total lack of Color Management...... which admittedly even PSE3 seems to be rather limited in. So if you come across a tut written for Photoshop you should be able to follow along in PSP, just some of the menu wording may be different.

Think that maybe Cynlee may be a good source for PSP info. Agree with Michelle about the limited colour management in PSE3, but still better than no management. Seems not to bad if used with hardware calibration, but thats an entirely different and big issue.

Yes Cyn is right curves work just about the same in both, PS is a little easier IMO. Have a look at link might be something helpfulAttached Link: http://www.campratty.com
Here's a website I remembered from way back when I still used PSP..... seems there's a ton of info there.... as well as lots of links. There is also a usenet newsgroup available which has been in existance for years: comp.graphics.apps.paint-shop-proI am, therefore I create.......

Thanks to all :) I have saved the link to look at further LP :) Can I be an awful pain and ask what 'colour management' means ? Before I bought PSP I asked around and people couldn't tell me why PS was any different which is why I bought the cheaper alternative. PSP more than equals my skills, but it would be nice to know about PS too :)

In a nutshell color management means the controls you apply to various devices so that they can work together to give you the right output that you wanted. All the devices you use to create a digital image file, from digital cameras, scanners, monitors, printers all use color. If you think of color as a language..... All of your devices speak a different language of color. But when you use color management you are using a universal language so to speak so that each device interpets the colors you want them to use and outputs them in the way that you desire. The website linked in the original post does an excellent job of explaining color management..... take a look at it if you have the chance. :~)

Found this little gem a while ago...... this website is really a fantastic resource. It has lots of clear, easy to understand articles written on all sorts of things relating to digital photography and photography in general.... For those running Photoshop Elements 3, one of the big things missing is the Curves function. But this smart gentleman created an action (and a couple of others) which allows one to use Curves within PSE3...... very generous of him I have to say. The curves function once installed is not available through the Filter> Filter Gallery drop down menu, but you access it through the palette bin on the right under Styles and Effects......I am, therefore I create.......
