Still working on getting use to blending.. (yawn) Been working on this one on and off since yesterday. I think it looks ok,but I thought I'd put through here first since you guys were such a big help with the others.. :)

This it totally cool (excuse the pun) feel it needs just a little cleaning up around the hedge on the right.

Ok.. I think I see what you mean.. Getting better.. Last time I missed a whole dead tree :)

I assume this is 2 pix (summer & winter) If so, I would create a duplicate summer layer and experiment with the opacity settings to get the shadows (in front of the bench) on top of the snow layer. This would make the pix blend together more and add to the realism (IMO).

Ok. I tried doing what L8rdaze suggested And it wasn't working for me. Might be because my eyes are starting to get real tired. I tried pushing the snow back a little more to get kind of a melting look.. Let me know what you think. If it still doesn't look right I'll work on it somemore tomorrow... Thanks for the help

I think the biggest problem for me is the ghosting of the bushes to image right. Grabs my attention and holds it.

tvernuccio ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 2:53 AM

my focus keeps going to that tree on the left...i find the foliage that's blended in the trees distracting. also something about the background is bothering me. hard for me to describe exactly what. i really like this concept! i think you're pretty close on this one!

Trying a different approach.. See if you like this one better.. The first one I think I was trying to hard to cover the trees on the left and right.. I'm trying for a little more blending and a less cover up, a little shadow in front of the bench... Umm.. Do you think this is better?

I think what I'm trying to here is to teach myself how to be more focused on the whole image.. I find when I do postwork sometimes I'm so focused on something I really like I forget to look at the rest of the image.. In the forum I don't feel like I'm getting a pat on the head.. You people call them the way you see them and it forces me to take a closer look.. So thanks.. I really am trying to find ways to improve my work..

i think even though you have a really awesome concept, these pictures just don't match up. what i mean by that is that the grass is moving away from me at a different angle than the snow (they have different vanishing points). if you can get another picture of the grass at the same (or at least really close to it) angle as the snow, it will be a lot easier to make it look real.

ARGHH!!!! WIERD!!! Hey, but flipping brilliant concept - reminds me of pics I did a few years back which were of an equally warped ilke. The last one I like, and the view/angles work ok for me - but the 'cliff' edges (as I see them to be) could do with a touch of softening right on the edges themselves, and bring that overhanging branch back in to add to the perspective ;-) (",)

Wow. you have a good eye resedit32767 for not seeing the layer underneath :) I new what was underneath and there is a large difference between the two and I didn't see the angles. I had to hit the eye on and off before it sunk in.. But I think if I had a little less grass upfront it might be a little harder to see. I'm going to put both originals up so everybody can see.. Meanwhile I'm going to fool around with those other suggestions. I still think I can get away with using these two photos if I handle it right.. More opinions might be interesting and helpful

I think part of the problem is that the two light sources are from different angles. Anyway had a quick edit making less foreground which IMO solves some of the issues. Never had time to play with the top foliage. Bit difficult with such a small image, but some ideas maybe for you to work on, the selections are not perfect. LP

Yea. I know..I'm looking through my archives to see if I can find something closer. I started this simply with a what if.. trying to see where I could go with the blending.... I'll have to rethink this :)

LostPatrol ( ) posted Thu, 24 February 2005 at 9:56 AM

Maybe you will have to rethink it a little but to be fair it is a great idea, and it has great potential. Good luck with it.

Thanks . LostPatrol... There's been some great feedback. I been pretty busy the last couple of days so I had to set it aside, but I hope to have another version up by the weekend.. I just want to take a closer look at what I have in photos to see if I can find a better match.. If not I can still work on the original idea.. This is the kind of feedback I was hoping for.. A lot of times I'm throwing something together to post in 30-60min. I have to teach myself to take a minute and really look at what I'm doing before I post. I'll always be posting the 30-60min quicky on occasion, but now maybe I'll double check for the object that wwasn't suppose to be there :) You people have given me a lot to think about. I'll Be BAck :)

Don't know if anybody is still following this.. but in case.. I went through a lot of my photos and and I know I made the right match the first time. I did fine one photo of the same shot that was a little closer match with the angle.. So I'm back to fine tuning the the original.. The fact that somebody spotted the difference in the angles just simply tells me that the image wasn't done.. So if anybody still feels like giving feedback.. Feel free.. :)
