If there isn't a readme then you'll have to work it out from what you get. Plain image files are textures or backgrounds - you're going to have to load them by hand anyway (via the Surfaces palette or Edit>Backdrop) so just put them where it's convenient, a subfolder of the Runtimetextures being the obvious choice. OBJ file plus textures probably make a prop - either put them in a folder together, or put the textures in a RuntimeTextures folder and the OBJ somewhere else (RuntimeGeoemtries, perhaps, though if you load it into D|S and save it as a Scene file you will not need to keep the OBJ around - D|S stores its own geometry files: don't delete your zip though, incase you need to reload it). CR2 files go in a subfolder of the characters folder, pz2 files in a subfolder of the Pose folder, pp2 ditto props, hr2 ditto Hair, hd2 ditto hand, fc2 ditto Face, lt2 lights, cm2 cameras. There should be RSR and/or PNG files with the same name as the xx2 file that go with them, to provide the thumbnail. Other image files are textures, and OBJ files are the geometry. To work out where to put them open the xx2 file in Notepad and look for the path reference, which will usually be something like ":Runtime:Textures:RBH tex:RBHTable.jpg" meaning that RBHTable.jpg is to be put in RuntimeTexturesRBH tex
DAZ|Studio (the second bit is the distinguishing label - DAZ3D is the publisher) is an application that does similar things to Poser, with a slightly different approach. In D|S you can select mulitple body parts for posing, you can point with multiple parts (so you can select parts from the finger up to the shoulder to point at a target, except there's a problem at the moment - it is still in beta), you can change multiple surfaces at one go (with a range of settings mid-way between Poser 4 and the Poser 5/6 Material Room in flexibility). D|S doesn't support magents, dynamic hair or dynamic cloth. In theory it supports weight-mapping, a more advanced form of rigging than the Poser standard, but we've yet to see any benefit from that as no one has made (or at least no one has released) and true D|S native figures. If you have Poser and are happy with the interface then D|S probably doesn't offer anything worth the effort of learning it, but if not it might (being free) be worth a look.
"If you have Poser and are happy with the interface then D|S probably doesn't offer anything worth the effort of learning it, but if not it might (being free) be worth a look. " I would agree with this if you have P5 or the new P6. However if you're still using p4 like I was, checking out Studio is well worth the time :) I'm officially impressed with some of the tools in this app. While it still has a long way to go, IMO it blows P4 out of the water. :)

Ok... I understand I know little of what is going on, and someone has tried to explain how to put the free stuff I find here into Daz, but... im not getting it. Alot of my stuff just has the files sitting there in no type of folders. Could someone specifically tell me the order I should create folders in order to make the free downloads I get to work? LOL I used to think I was fairly decent with computers... not anymore... lol
