Subject: what happened to the contentparadise baby?

I liked it - bring it back! You know, the one that crawled along the top then fell over the edge. It was sooo cute. It was one of the cutest animations I've seen and I used to go to that site just to see it. I wanted to show my friend, but now it's not there anymore. Love esther

That is a nicely done bit of animation!

Helgard ( ) posted Thu, 05 May 2005 at 10:15 PM

Does anyone know if the Jolly Troll animation was done in Poser or in ZBrush. The model was made in ZBrush, and there are a few things in the animation that don't look like Poser can do them.

Are you talking about the cubed baby?

Helgard ( ) posted Thu, 05 May 2005 at 10:51 PM

Stefan, I may be wrong. I remember reading an interview with someone who made a troll in ZBrush, but I don't know if it was this one. Some very interesting controls on the troll. -erc (extended remote control) automated muscle bulge -automated leg driven stomach deformation -wrist deformation creates natural creases So that's how he got the movement I thought Poser couldn't do.

From the promo, it sounds to me like they used the animation from the pack I linked to... --------------------------------------------------- "They're off and running! well... crawling at least. This is the first of many Pose and Animation packs for Dylan and Jenny. Includes both .png and.rsr files for compatibility with all versions of Poser. 10 Still Poses 2 Animated poses Crawl and Fall 6 facial expressions Compatible with all version of Poser"

Lawndart ( ) posted Thu, 05 May 2005 at 11:41 PM

I don't believe that that is the same fall that is included in the pose pack for the baby. The one in the Pose pack has the baby sitting up and then falling backwards onto it's back. The animation was done by "Chris Deroche" of Posimation fame. The troll was completely animated in Poser. The displacement is in Poser.

Shots of the animations are at the bottom of the cubed page. The crawl looks like the same animation in the banner to me. The fall I'm not sure about...

Does anyone have any idea how big the Troll is, compared to a Poser human. Is he the size of Freak, bigger, smaller?

Lol, so I don't think I will be doing an animation of him in a suit going to the ball with Cinderella, because he definitely won't fit into the limousine. (Although he would look good in a tuxedo I think) And who is the tubby on the right?

I don't know why but the mention of Jolly in a suit made me think of him in a dress & wig doing one of those musical numbers on a huge flight of stairs with 100 Sal A. Manders in top hats & tails.

What is it about Trolls that people need to dress them up & make fun of them?..I've seen two different people put the Jolly troll in a pink tutu..one of them even animated it doing a swan lake number,lol..poor thing. Helgard..fatty on the right is one of mine Stefan

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of recreating the scene from Shrek, at the ball, but showing the way it would really be, you know, having the Troll/Ogre slobbering all over the place, etc, and not cute and cuddly like Shrek. And at some point the Troll would have to lose his temper and beat up the band because they start playing a Fleetwood Mac song. (There is no greater sin.) (PS In my language the word for troll and ogre is the same word). Stefan, what are you going to be doing with tubby/fatty? Does he have a name? A mission? A purpose? A release date? And please don't tell me he has a robotic eye!!!! I told you to start wearing an aluminium hat!!!!! Major Rice has just lost his robotic eye as we speak, lol, and maybe he will have a robotic mouth/jaw instead. Lol, and that thing on his chest, the implant!!!!! I will send you a picture later of my inspiration for Major Rice. (Robotic eyes and chest implants galore)

And this is the Troll/Ogre that I read the interview about that was made in ZBrush. My mistake in mixing it up with the Jolly Troll.

Are you sure that it was the Trolls who are wearing the pink tutu? From what you're describing it sounds awful alike this one. I think it's very cute animation ^_^ SanctumArtKitty =^_^=

SanctumArtKitty ...jeez, there's just no bloody respect for these models..The Drone troopers are meant to be hard assed robots ready for battle,lol..thank's for the link. :) BryanSteagle is also the guy who did the Troll dance number that I'm talking about, but his video is no longer live. linked here: http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=11754 would be nice to see a Phenotypes number from him too eh...'Scythe lake'..hehe Helgard: "Stefan, what are you going to be doing with tubby/fatty? Does he have a name? A mission? A purpose? A release date?" fatty...AKA:'Hybrid' will be released sometime next month.it was mainly an experiment in getting something with leg pistons working in Walk designer..and as a surface for some Zbrush fun. yes he does have a robotic eye & yes he does have something like that on his chest.there's a very early wip in my gallery...based on a design I sketched but never made for the CGTalk 'Machineflesh' challenge Cheers Stefan

I empathise with Helgard! Trolls don't have the respect they had in the Scandinavian countries where the proverbs go, "as honest as a troll" and "I have troll blood and know what's what!" Trolls never lied and could never be deceived. They were interrupted doing normal things such as laundry or weaving or tending cattle, and there is no record of a troll ever entering politics, evangelizing, gambling with other people's money, or otherwise being a nuisance. They did swap babies with princesses, but that was more because they delighted in golden curls than from any desire to interfere with the royal succession by installing one of their own kin. Except for the baby swapping (which they didn't consider theft), they didn't hurt humans nearly as much as humans hurt them... and calumny is perhaps the unkindest cut of all. Carolly

Helgard: Displacements for the Jolly Troll were created in the old fashioned way - laying down greyscale strokes and then seeing what you've got. :-) Out of interest, do people like that a figure loads in at a 'correct' scale, or prefer models to load in at an average human scale, scaling them up/down on the BODY as they please? A Troll in a tutu never ceases to amuse, it must be the clumsiness and bulk matched with the delicacy of ballet. However, the trolls that inhabit the Shetlands and Orkneys are more civilised and wouldn't be seen doing a pirouette. More animation needs to be done with Poser. There has been allot of quality content created in recent times, which needs to be seen moving; "leg pistons working in Walk designer.." all good things. In addition, Firefly's motionblur is pretty good and of little rendering overhead - yay! Elliot @ Jolly
