What is the best way to get noise out of pictures.

Which means less noise to begin with. It is very hard to get it out of an image once it is in. One way is to reduce the image size so that it isn't so noticable. The other way is to use aftermarket filters like Neat Image so remove it. The only problem with that is when you remove the noise, some of the image detail usually goes with it. These filters are getting better at it all the time, but still it is better to minimize it in the first place. Also, try keep your photo exposure in the sweet spot (using your in-camera histogram as a guide). Excessively shadowy images get noisier when you adjust the level to compensate.

Helicon Filter is an excellent program. One of the best noise removal algorithms around too. Also check out Kodak's Digital Gem and Digital Gem Professional (use to be ASF's program). Info is HERE. -=>Donald

Ahhh, so you will be getting noise no matter what. Well then, any of the recommended removal filter should help. Some other postwork tips might be to blur backgrounds and dark areas to fade the noise, and to increase the contrast so that a noisy dark background become black. What camera are you using? Good luck!

That is a sweet picture! I love the pitcher's tongue sticking out! I can definitely see some noise.
