Subject: ANIME DOLL QUESTION - Has anyone used it in a Video Game ?

Pretty straight forward question, I was wondering if anime doll is appropriate for "real time" online games or does it render to slow and get crappy performance due to the quality of detail of the doll and any clothing acessories. THANKS !

Probably too high a poly count for a game though characters are exceeding the 6k poly count now a days. There are other considerations when doing game characters vs rendered chacters. IllusionSoft has some really nice 3D anime figures they use in their games.

The key to game graphics is texture mapping. Unless you are talking about "cutscenes" you will want as low-poly a model as you can use, with as high-quality texture as you can make. Also, bump mapping is key. The less math involved with the render, the better. There are a ton of books out there for game graphics, many more than exist for Poser, that's for sure. Most games have an extremely rigid character protocol. You can't just import an obj file into a real-time physics game and expect it to move. AnimeDoll is certainly closer to getting into your game than say Vicki. My game engine requires ridiculously strict collision bounds. I tried to import my AnimeDoll into the game and after 18 hours of converting, my computer said it had had enough. I use the Torque engine BTW. If anyone else has an engine that can import AnimeDoll i'd love to hear about it though.

Thanks for the info guys , keep it coming ! A few more questions.. 1. What kind of results could I be looking at with 6k poly count ? Can anyone show me a character with a 6k poly count ? 2. The characters in Final Fantasy Online are pretty detailed, where would you guys consider that would fall in a poly count ? 3. Also what is the poly count for Anime Doll ?
