I am trying to output a particular Sketch render but failing miserably.

What I am trying to achieve is an output of a character where there is a complete outline, and complete black lines for the object's jawline, eyes mouth etc.

I've tried different sketch perameters in the Sketch Designer window, such as turning off hatching in 'objects' and lengthening stroke and density in 'Edges' but the best I come up with is the example here.

Is it possible to get clean lines for the complete outlines and for facial features?

Cheers MIke.

Dr Geep made a tut about Sketch Designer, explaining which setting does what. I don't think you can go any better with it, but maybe try to use some pre-defined presets ? Over at Animotions' Freestuff there's a nice pack of Sketch Designer presets. I had very little luck myself with that thing. I got one pic at my gallery as an experiment, but I guess it was a failure. Interesting, yes, but not as good as I hoped.

It's the lights you need to play with. Use a simple two or three light setup. The dark areas are what show the sketching the most, while bright areas show the least. This is the default sketch preset, with two dim lights on each side and one bright light directly in front (and on) the face.

Same setup except the one bright light raised up above the head to cast shadows on the face. See how the light(s)/shadows play an important role in what does and does not get sketch. Note: Sketch Designer doesnt work at all well with transparency maps. For the eyelashes I changed the object color to white as a work-around. For hair it is best to use the old crappy (non-trans mapped) plastic hair that comes with Poser for the same reason. The eyes will render better if you set the eye white object color to dark gray and the irises object color to black (as I did here). Hope that helps.have fun, SWAMP

Another thing I've found useful/helpful is to render the image first, and then import it to the work area as a background, deleting or making invisible all figures in the foreground, and running the sketch designer on that. I've gotten some really interesting effects that way. bonni
