Subject: Modify Function Origin with Time Output

jwhitham ( ) posted Tue, 27 September 2005 at 2:56 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 9:57 PM

I want to get animated smoke to "rise". The obvious solution would seem to be to modify the Z origin of the function controlling density with time. I just can't figure how to get time into the Z part of the vector input required. Ideas anyone?

Hi jwhitham! Here a little experiment which seems to function quite well: I used a composer to link time node to origin of repeater. See picture, I hope this can help :) Paul

Hi, and thanks very much Paul. I'll give it a try.

Yep, that'll do nicely! At least for the lit side of the smoke, see attached (requires DivX 5.1) on the case of the shaded side now!:)

That looks pretty good.

Wow John, that looks great. Much better than some of those fire and smoke after effects plugins I've been using.
