that was funny!! :) dunno if we have Chavs here or not. couldn't tell ya. are they on TV? i'm very out of touch with what's happening in the world. 'cause i don't watch TV, don't read newspapers, and don't listen to the radio (just my i-pod). everyone thinks i'm from another planet i'm so different. Yep...reckon i am! i'm an alien!!! Chavs are town dwellers..young adults l suppose 14 plus.. a culture of their own.. street culture .. dont know how l could liken them to a group in america... yob culture.. gold rings on each finger..drive around with loud speakers booming the neighbour hood.. A dress code...think sunday roast is stealing a car joy riding.. then setting fire to the evidence.. and not the brightest sparks in the community.. To be honest shelia very similar to you...chavs are a new cult to me..!!!!.. love my retreat in sleepy hallow where l live...:)..:))

But there are gangs in nearest town..stealing juppies, i-pods & money from youngsters in their own age and banging down old ladies.

Makes me very angry...
But in a world were the adults are to buissy with there own life..buissy making more money...not paying attention to the young ones..
In a way I can understand..but I SURTAINLY NOT accept!!!

Another new 'British-ism' for me this week!First I learned 'strewth'(streuth?lol)from Nikki,and now 'Chavs'...I never heard of 'chavs' before...they sound like they're thugs (or hoodlums?)...Fortunately,we don't have anybody like that around here...Modesty makes them sound positively horrific!Banging down old ladies????? But we do have a bunch of spoiled rich kids that dress like 'gangsta' rappers,(LOL)with their pants hanging down at their knees,and their boxers hanging out.They look pretty absurd if you ask me...LOL!

Nikki & Modesty, thanks for explaining!!! :) i had no idea these guys were for real. they don't sound very nice, that's for sure! they sound pretty mean...yeah...like hoodlums as Marlene said. can't say i really know about such hoodlums. we do have them, but where kemal and i live, well...we don't see too many young people. actually, we don't see many people at all 'cause we're working when the kids are out of school. even in the summer we don't see 'em much. guess they don't hang out much around here. Nikki...why am i not surprised that we're alike in that way? i'm glad! :) you have a retreat in sleepy hollow??? sounds awesome! i'd love to see some pictures sometime!!!! you're pretty secluded? Bet it's gorgeous where you live!
