Seriously. I just wanted to say I love the new format. The smilies, the avatars, the post counts, the format, all of it! Sure, I agree with people about some issues, but I am wholly confident that you are working hard to fix things up. After the great job done with the Marketplace, I have nothing but confidence in you! I know this is a ton of work for you all, and I also know the value of a thank you. Just a simple nice job, can go a long way to making you feel better when there is surely a lot of stress going around. Looks around for a Beer Toast smiley, but settles for... :thumbupboth:

Oh, definitely. This new forum system rocks. :m_cigar:

I've seen some complaints (about the white background, avatars not representative of the user's actual appearance, smilies reminding them of a preschool playground, people hiding behind pseudonyms when they should be using their real names, etc.) but I think most are handling this switch in a mature fashion. there may still be some forums that don't allow avatars or smilies or image attachments, but they're getting rarer as the internet evolves. a good place to go if one hates all these newfangled gizmos would be the usenet, a crochety, antiquated, feature-free morass that preceded the www by several years. :lol: however, why is there a circled pentangle (star) in front of all the threads and all the messages, even though I've read 'em all? obviously, it's a trivial matter, but I hope somebody knows.

Miss Nancy, StaceyG has already posted elsewhere that the programmers are working on fixing the stars. BTW: My avatar is an EXACT likeness of me! :m_tongue2:

In a recent IM from a forum moderator, I was told the following regarding 'forums' .... QUOTE -- "The Community Center Forum: This forum serves by assisting members with Renderosity issues such as FAQs, updates, ideas, improvements, events, navigation, feature use, and general site questions." CLOSE QUOTE -- I was told that the forum was here to assist the artists in their endeavors about the arts. With all due respect, GOD bless smilies and avatars. They are cute, I have to admit. However, I fail to see how they assist an artist in becoming better. Also, I cannot help but notice a varying list of questions and posts already asking how things work at this new venue. From my humble perspective, I would have preferred that more pre-planning was done as to making a 'how to' link or page for all members and those who will be hopefully joining in the future. In in earlier post, I was told that such a list is now being looked into. I've been here since 2004 (to the chagrin of many) and I see the same repeat questions always asked. I was once told the moderators did not have enough time to greet each new person at this site and explain how it operated. I agree. They do yeoman's work already. Thus, to me, it makes even more sense to have such a 'how to' area where newbies or oldbies (smile) can visit and make our moderator's lives so much easier and less time consuming. Just this old geezer's ''pre-war'' thoughts. WINK. Again, my thanks to all for their efforts on behalf of all artists and writers. Now, if there is someone reading this that I have not yet offended, I have one question: When I view this forum, I see the avatars and names at the left side of my screen. However, I then have to scroll across my p.c. screen to the right in order to fully view all the text for each post. Then I have to scroll back to the left to see the next post in that thread. Wash, rinse, repeat. Well, you get the idea. I was told to check my 'screen size'? It should be 1024? I always thought it was? (I have no trouble, whatsoever, in viewing my normal 'gallery' page. It 'fits' fine). How does one check to see which setting their p.c. screen monitor is on and how does one change it if needed. Thanks kindly for any/all help. PEACE. T.P.

making a 'how to' link or page for all members and those who will be hopefully joining in the future. That would indeed be nice...however one has to wonder just how many would actually use it instead of posting the questions here....like they are doing in record numbers {not you TP ;)}

jumpstartme2 - hello, kind soul.I don't know how many would use such a page? But, at least those so seeking information could avail themselves of such a page. And, the moderators could simply insert a 'link' to a page and send them along their merry way as a good 'start'? To use a poor analogy, to me, it's like buying a new car with all kinds of bells and whistles on it. It would be nice if each salesperson had the time to spend showing the customer how it all operates. But, due to time constraints, it would make sense at a minimum, to at least give them a 'handbook' to read. If they don't read it, so be it. SMILE. T.P.

jumpstartme2 - hello, again. Since you were so kind to answer my post above, would you like to take a stab/try at figuring out why my screen does not 'fit' all the information side to side in the 'forum' area but is OK in the gallery area? Thanks, kindly .... MUCH appreciated (to you or anyone). T.P.

T.P. It looks like they didn't make use of float tags with the new forums. I am able to view all of the forums the correct way, but I run a very high resolution. I believe I saw elsewhere that the minimum resolution to see the forums correctly with your browser maximized is 1024x768, but don't quote me on that. To raise your resolution, minimize all open windows. On your Windows desktop, right click, then at the bottom of the resulting menu, click Properties. When the Display Properties window pops up, click on the tab at the top that reads Advanced. On that screen, you can change your screen resolution. Move it up to at least 1024x768. Click Apply. Your screen will jump and change to the new resolution. You will get a pop-up asking if you want to save the new settings. I would maximize the browser again, and check that the forums are fully visible. If so, minimize the browser again, and click OK to save the new setting. Click OK again to close the Display Properties box, and you are good to go. Hope that helped.

MR TP: I'm not sure why you can't see the forum messages fully at 1024, but this might be a temporary fix for you: Do you have the Renderosity menu column on the left or right of your screen? If it's on the left, you can change it to the right in your prefernces and then you should be able to see the full message width.

Lilybelles - thanks. I already have it at the 'right' side settings here. Btw: I just LUV your avatar! WINK. T.P. destro75 -- hello. "Float tags?" (I graduated 3rd, in a class of two"). I just checked your advice out. My p.c. is 3 years old. Hewlett Packard Pavilion 551w. My monitor is an hp pavilion mx70. I looked at your suggestions above. My monitor settings were set at 800x600. I have a 'slide' bar from left to right there on the display. I slid the bar right to the next nearest setting available, which was 1024x768. I then clicked 'apply'. Now, this forum ''fits'' all in the same viewing area. The only downside for me, is that all my 'icons', all my 'folders', the 'text/printing' on all webpages, etc. is SO much smaller. Also, when I used to press the F11 key on my keyboard to view ''full screen'' I had 'full screen' pictures that filled my entire monitor. Now, I'm assuming unless the pictures I'm viewing are 1024 or larger in pixel sizes, they won't ''fill'' the screen, correct? These old eyes are really straining to view them all. 300 Magnification glasses and all. LOL. Will see how it goes for now. THANKS for your help. MUCH appreciated. My best to you and yours, kind soul. T.P.

Ok. I adjusted the 'view' option on my toolbar to 120% and tried it at 150%. Much better for 'reading' at least! WHEW! SMILE. They shouldn't allow 'geezers' in their '50's to play with computers. WINK. T.P.

The flour bag looks worse! :b_grin: Get out of the house? That would mean walking away from Poser! Be still the thought!

Actually -- he looks like the chrome-headed villan/character "Destro" from the 1980's-era cartoon GIJoe......I don't know if that's intentional. Destro was supposed to be the weapons supplier to the evil COBRA terrorist organization. Or so I've heard, anyway.

BINGO XENO! Yeah, I figured I may as well make an avatar based on the name I chose to use. When I joined Rosity, I just used the first name that came to mind, and this happened to be it. The image didn't come out as well as I had hoped, but I just did it fast to get it up. I may revisit in the future to fix it up. I made an avatar I like much more for another site I post on, but I don't think it was appropriate for here. If you are curious, follow the link above, but keep in mind, although it's meant to be funny, some may find it "tasteless." Well, maybe tasty, but still...lol
