THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Apophysis and Bryce combo amazes me

When I'm bored, I start turning dials on Apophysis fractal generator and importing to bryce for experimenting and effects.  I've fiddled with Knot plot and a few others but Apop blows my simple little mind with it's range of flames.  Here is a neat one I just cooked up and what can be done with it in bryce as a terrain and mat.

And about ten minutes in bryce with the above image converted to a terrain and same image mapped to the terrain, duplicated the terrain twice, one terrain with a fire mat and wahl lal.  Oil fire.  A little more tweaking and some blurring and smoothing in post work will cause the fire dept. sirens to start wailing.

PS the tank took about 3 seconds to make (it shows)

That looks like some kind of bizarre mushroom ;)

Looks like the kinds of explosions you can often see behind Tom Cruise as he zips off on his motorbike..  Neat effect.

When you apply your image to your terrain does it have to be the same dimension and resolution?  Do you use the parametric mapping mode?

Jeez... wish I would have known about this ap when I was doing my "Outrunning Hell" picture years back.

Key work is experiment.  This one was mapped object top, decreased diffusion and increased transparency.

AS again shows who is master of texture and dte.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Tue, 07 November 2006 at 6:57 PM

No master about it, that's just your image from your first post, transparent as a terrain.

I did a piece with Apophysis and Bryce a while back (reduced size image attached).  I need to get back into it.  There is a lot you can do with it.

This was an Apophysis fractal mirrored and then mapped to a terrain (image top) that was made from the fractal.  I did a few others as well around the same time (one was called "Fractal Flower").

Could be worse, could be raining.

This originated in Apophysis and ended up in Bryce, but not as a terrain like skiwillgee's.

Oh skiwillgee, that first image you posted looks exactly like lichen, I can see that working really well on gravestones.

That looks to me like it could also make an incredible coral formation for an underwater scene. Make a few of those; add some of AgentSmith's "coral trees" a few fish, a caustic light gel, the right atmosphere, and you could use it to make an amazing undersea render.
