Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 10 10:34 am)
Actually, donning pedant hat for a moment a biped is a creature which walks on two limbs/legs (from 'bi-' meaning two, and '-ped' meaning footed). So all human figures are bipeds; birds are considered bipeds; and some primates could possibly fit the bill as well, given that they spend some time walking on only two legs instead of four.
Anyway, removing pedant hat the answer is yes - V4 is a biped, and so will be able to benefit from the new technology in P7.

In the 3ds Max sense, in which one character animation system is called Biped, no, Poser uses a completely different skeleton system. It seems pretty unlikely to me that everyone suddenly got their crap together and made Poser integrate with 3ds Max better, personally I am surprised there is not a Biped version of all the popular figures.
There is a Reiss Body Studio plugin that can turn the millinium figures into a character with a biped bone structure applied to make it posable. But I was wondering if this Poser 7 "biped" was a new creature specific to Poser 7 that indeed mimics the 3ds max biped?
And if so, are there different sets of figures that take advantage of the new poser technology?
I think it would have to be if different poses could be universally applied - there does seem to be some kind of a translation involved.
Dont get too excited or confused with the nomenclature, folks...what Poser 7 is offering has nothing to do with any 3DS Max rigging or anything else from Autodesk. Max used the term biped to define there generic skeletal system for two-legged creatures because... well... they were bipeds. Poser 7 is describing the two-legged creatures that can share universal poses as bipeds because... well... that's what they are. Autodesk doesn't have the copyright on the word, and I think going off in that direction is only going to confuse and disappoint.
(Apologies for the vernacular in this one: been sat reading comics the last hour, and it kinda rubs of on one!)

I use BodyStudio daily and have never known it to be able to create a posable figure. It imports Poser figures and animations - but no posing in Max is allowed.
Have I missed something???

Reason 7.** Universal Poses
Universal Poses: Now you can apply any pose to any biped figure within Poser, regardless of that figure's joints or rigging, and see consistent, high quality results! To save time, you can even take legacy poses from earlier versions of Poser and resave them to the Poser 7 Library, which will automatically convert them to Universal Poses!
Is V4 a "biped figure" or can she be turned into one inside Poser 7?
