What is the differrance between Add Material and Assign Material on the group editor?

Assign material will assign the currently selected polygons to a material group
Add Material will add the polygons in a material group to the selected group

Let me see if understand this correctly.  If I have two polygons from one group, and two polygons from another group.  I can assign them the same material, even though they are from two different groups? If they are selected that is?

Add Material will pull down a dropdown list of existing materials which are already assigned to polygons and add all of their polygons to the group you're working on. Assign Material is where you assign a new material name or existing material name to the grouping that you are working on, it doesn't change your group polycount at all.

I need to think this over a little bit.

No, You can assign multiple groups the same material but you can't assign materials to 2 polygons of one group and two polygons of another group without creating a whole new group with those four polygons. The reason is you can't select polygons from another group without inadvertantly adding those two polygons to the group you're working on.

The grouping tool will only work on one group at a time. When you select polygons from another group, what you're doing is adding them to the current group and removing them from their previous group. This isn't something you want to do with Poseable figures.
