Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 27 9:18 am)
Hey there.
Look for your stray Polygon in UV mapper.
First load it in UV mapper. Look at the template.
Select each group from the pull down and move it out of the way or off screen.
See what is left over when you are done.
You should find the offending poly(s) if they are actualy polygons.

After you leave the setup room there will the a new prop in the sceen. Figure1_Setup or soemthing I can't remember what it's called exactly. These will be the parts that didn't get grouped. Have a look at that prop. Export it ot another app in necessary. This wil reveal the elusive ungrouped polygons.
I pretty much never use poser's grouping tool to divide a figure. It is way to awakward. I divide my figures in Max but almost anything woulod be better than the grouping tool. BUT I do use the setup room. Once the object has the right group names there is no faster way to rig it.
Well since you are using Poser to group with I really can't help you...too damn confusing! lol!
I use my 3d program to look for strays, and actually it's much easier to group with as well. That way you can hide groups until you see one lone doggie out in the field.
Comitted to excellence through art.
When you export a grouped cr2 mesh out of Poser, it creates extra non-dimensional seams along the edge of each group. I know lightwave can see and remove these.
Seems like you may have line polygons that are invisible to the naked eye and UV mapper.

I think that was my problem. I used auto grouper and it seems to have worked itself out, aside from the fact that somewhere in the process I moved the boxers, so when all was said and done they weren't positioned correctly on him. Oh well at least now I know the model is grouped right, just have to re-bone it.
Thanks for the help and ideas!

One other thing I didn;t see mentioned. Double check your group names. You may have an entire group that is misnamed compared to the names of the bones in your rigging, in which case poser won;t assign them and will give you this error. Poser is very finicky with names and is very case sensitive. I've seen this happen and drive me nuts because I missed a capital or lower case letter and the group showed up with me continuously misreading the name and it wasn;t assigned to a bone becasue of this.

Thank you for the reply Trav. I did get past the part that I posted about in this thread actually. Thankfully. Still however am having problems with the figure. I posted in the Apollo forum over at CP that I'm looking for someone else to collaborate with me on this one and finish it up. It desperately needs a new pair of eyes looking at it.
The grouping is done, the modeling is done, the mapping needs help but is done and the rigging has been done about 100 times now. Basically I just need someone to check over the rigging and grouping and tweak I think. Going to offer the model as a freebie for apollo so obviously anyone who helps will get equal credit.
So with that said, if anyone is interested in helping me finish this up - I'd appreciate it. I REALLY need to be able to move on to something else. I got a plaid package from the MP for texturing it and will learn all about morphs for it (somehow if I can find the info somewhere.)
Anyway this is my cry for help /cry.
PM me here if interested. No takers so far in the Apollo forum.

Anyway so I got that, and gave apollo boxers the thong/bondage device they needed for a hip area. But I keep getting this message "This figure contains polygons which are not grouped to belong to a bone" when I try to leave the SetUp room.
Now I know what that means, that supposedly there is a poly somewhere that is not grouped. But I have checked this thing backwards and forewards upwards and downwards inside and out and I CAN NOT find this ninja poly.
Soooo is there any way to find it? Anything to check, anything I might have missed checking?
