Subject: Vue 6 Esprit and Poser 6/7

Hi: Vue 6 Esprit will be on sale for seven days for $99 as of Monday, Sept. 17. How good is this version for rendering Poser scenes and importing them?  Is it faster than Poser 7 in rendering? I can't afford the Pro version. Thanks, Sherrie

FrankT ( ) posted Fri, 14 September 2007 at 4:50 PM

so far as I know it'll import pz3 files fine - have you tried the PLE version first to check ?

I much prefer the renders from Vue to the ones done in Poser - the lighting is FAR easier to set up once you get the hang of it.  If you are using full GI or GR settings then the renders can be slow but there are ways to tweak the settings.

I use Vue 6 Infinite for almost all my poser renders these days

What thefixer said!!

I bought Esprit version some time ago, then i bought the different modules one after the other as soon as i was able to afford them. You got the Pro Version when you have them all. A little more expensive than going right for the Pro version, but better to spraid the price on several months.

In a nutshell, if you could afford Vue- Esprit right now, go for it!
Be aware though that if you use the option Poser doesn't have (Global Illumination, Global Radiosity...) the rendering is longer, but the result worth it!

Where is it on sale?  Here on Renderosity or elsewhere?  I will pick up a copy as well at that price.

What is the difference between Esprit and Infinite? I have version 5 Esprit. Is 6 a lot better?

Morgano ( ) posted Fri, 14 September 2007 at 10:08 PM

Infinite has the ecosystems.   They are very clever, if also a bit infuriating.   I think that the render quality for Esprit is supposed to be slightly superior to that for Infinite, but the ability to generate ecosystems generally makes Infinite the preferable option (also, though, the much more expensive one).   Vue is capable of importing a pretty well exact copy of a Poser file (poses, materials, the lot), but it hoovers up masses of memory in the process and the results are not bug-free.   Vue seems to function perfectly in a 64-bit OS, with huge amounts of memory and multiple CPUs.   I like Vue a lot, but, running it 32-bit, with a single CPU and 2Gb of memory (as I do) does reveal a fair number of problems in the interface with Poser.

I have downloaded the PLE version to see how it runs. I am also in the process of upgrading my os from XP sp2 home to XP pro 64 because I run a dual core machine and want to take advantage of the 64 bit processor and to get past the stupid 2 gig ram limit as my machine can take 8 gigs of ram. I just want to ramp up may machine for Vue. At this point I don't know if I will be going with Vue Espirit or Infinite I really want Vue for the render ablilties and not so much for all the ecosystem stuff.

You can begin with Esprit, and if you are interested in one of the modules (Botanica to customize plants, Lightune to have more power on lights, Ecosystem to generate quickly and easy, DeepAccess to work with layers and more and HyperView to use several computers as a network rendering), you can only buy the one you want.

what about shaders?
what shaders do you use for skin and cloth?

*From my view I use the Poser Shader Tree but that's only possible if you have plenty of RAM in your system, as Vue is a RAM hungry beast!
If you have 2 Gig or less I'd use Skinvue for skin and Vue's own materials for cloth!

As to Vue6 Esprit, it will use Ecosystems, it just will not create them nor Edit them, but there is a way around the Not Editing part. You get about 17 Ecosystems with Vue6 Esprit and there are a few more here and there to pick up. I have about 45 now.  $99 is a Great Price, you should jump on it!!!

Not sure if it's been answered yet, but yes, Vue 6 works fine with P7.  I have Vue 6 Pro Studio, which is essentially Esprit with all the modules.  I had Vue 5 Esprit, and I upgraded a level with 6.  It is a seriously fantastic program, and worth every penny, IMO.

First i have rendered some superb scenes in 6 esprite using 1 or 2 poser figures that dont blow esprite out water.
Well as i own 6 esprite and have tried esprite 6, inf 6 and xtream 6 on on a mates, friends comp as he is potty with money and spends like mad, earns to much money and writes freebie modules to improve pc games.
6 Esprite is a cheap cut down version of Inf as i have tried some poser scenes on all 3 programs and Esprite crashes and burns to many times and they made it single core only.
If you want do scenes it was designed for with odd poser figure in then depending size will work nice, butttt the render time is like a snail, as they made 6 Esprite cheapy cheapy cheap cheap as possible.
To be honest its a waste  of money unless you can afford 6 Inf or Xstream.
For small scenes use esprite but for giant renders i use p7, c5 pro and c6 pro, as 6 esprite cant even render those size scenes.
I have brought a scene into 6 inf and extream and render it but in 6 esprite it kept crashing out.

SkinVue is for Infinite and xStream, not for basic Esprit, as far as I know.   Miki, Miki 2 and TY2 are "Poser" figures, for SkinVue's purposes, and Apollo is supported by the DAZ version.    You need to get separate modules to support your figures.   As well as AM, the DAZ module does appear to cover everything DAZ has released since about 1066.  The Poser module supports all of the integral Poser figures since P5, plus the Mikis, TY2 and the G2 figures.

*Oops, yes you're right, I forgot we were discussing Esprit, sorry!!

The RAM thing still applies though, less than 4Gig with Vue6Inf and you can pretty much forget the Poser shaders if you're doing a complex scene as well!

Here the thing you all are not thinking about. From an Economic stand point If you purchase V6 Esprit this week for $99, that is 1/2 price, you can then upgrade to Infinite or XStream and you will have saved $99 off their price, also.  ;^D And for me that would mean $99 towards SkinVue or some trees or Something!!!

Good point Thelby!

Along these lines, I take it that Vue 6 is a better choice than Bryce 6 for working with Poser 7?  With the sale, you can now get either for about $100.

Also, what is the price for Vue 6 Infinite?  To be honest, the price table on the website for the Vue products is a bit confusing. Am I correct in reading the table that jumping from Vue Esprit to Vue Infinite is a jump of about $500?

Morgano ( ) posted Sun, 16 September 2007 at 5:06 PM

Yep, that is a good point.

Thelby ( ) posted Sun, 16 September 2007 at 9:15 PM

Infinite Node Locked Download Version is $695.  $499 Sidegrade + $99 for Esprit if you purchase Esprit first, saving you $95 bucks.

Vue can directly import .pz3 files as long as you have Poser installed on your machine.  So yeah, it's easier to get Poser stuff into Vue.

If Bryce and Vue are the same price, absolutely get Vue.  There is really no comparison as far as what you can do in each program.
