Subject: I'm losing my hair here

Damsel ( ) posted Mon, 05 November 2007 at 4:38 PM · edited Wed, 06 November 2024 at 12:12 PM

For some reason, my mind is blank. :-) I know I have created props and saved them as "smart props" ie...a hat for Vicky 4. Then saved them to my figures library so that I could use MAT Pose Edit to create texture injection files. Now I can't save the props as figures. No plus sign at the bottom and MAT Pose Edit won't save a proper injection file for a texture from the prop file. HELP! :-) Thanks for any ideas. I see other props done by others that you can't save as figure files either, but somehow they did mat injection files for texturing in the Pose folder.

forget about saving props as figures, because you can't and because you don't need to. try the 'Poser 5 MAT Writer' here in the freebies. that's what i used for things like that. there's instructions on how to deal with smart props in the readme.

Thank you! I'll go and check that out. :-)

Try contacting Netherworks and asking if they can do anything for you as they made the  'Poser 5 MAT Writer'

Edit: They sell a newer version on their webstie

If you're using Poser 6 or 7, you can save a Material Collection direct to the Material Room.  It works in the same way as a MAT pose except you access them from the Material Room rather than the Pose Library.

Select your prop, then click the + at the bottom of the Materials library.  Select Material Collection from the dialog box, give it a filename and you're good to go.

BTW, no prop will respond to a MAT pose or Material Collection unless it's parented to something.  Nothing you can really do about that, it's just the way Poser works.

If you have Poser 6 or 7, you can do it simply by using the material room & a text editor.

In Poser save the MAT as a material collection in the Material room. Then...

  1. Open the mc6 file in a text editor

  2. Replace the top few lines that look like this...

{

version
                {
                number 7
                }
mtcollection

with this ...

{

version
                {
                number 4.01
                }
actor prop name

To get the prop name open the prop file in the same text editor & it will be listed at the top next to the word prop

Eg.

{

version
                {
                number 4.01
                }
prop hat:1

So you would end up with....

{

version
                {
                number 4.01
                }
actor hat:1

  1. Save the new file as a pz2 file
