Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 29 7:12 pm)
I think you are way ahead of things on this.. you realize that UV unwrapping for textures is just a few years old? That poser's rigging is VASTLY different (and anceint) compared with what you see in pro applcations, and that they are just adding things like soft body an bone dynamics themselves?
I have a hard time thinking that auto rigging should already be available anywhere, when the actual rigging itself is still being advanced every year.
While you could set up a basic humanoid bone rig, That would severely limit how somethiong could be modeled for it.
Think of something like the Cloverfield monster... who could anticipate a rig for something like that? The beauty of 3d, is anything is possible, and many people try exactly that.. anything.
Maybe 5 or 10 years down the road we'll see something like this, but I doubt much sooner then that, and whatever might be attempted will have so many restrictions as to be unattractive to professionals.
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
I'd settle for a stable Setup Room in Poser, which reminds me...There's at least a chance that things might work better on my new system.

Before anyone says Cinema4D or Poser 7 etc. What I am saying here is what is needed and I mean it!
We need a software package that allows an artist to select from a huge library of prearranged bone sets and whatever else is needed to make a 3D character and then sit back and watch the computer do the work of putting it together for us as we ask it to make modifications and changes until it LOOKS right and behaves right and the computer makes adjustments automatically to ensure that it will function correctly in a 3D Host program.
By now we should be able to get the computer to put a 3D item together without our needing to understand complex programming instruction sets or have a Masters Degree in maths and 200,000 hours of time available. In this day and age we should be able to have software packages that do the work for making a 3D character out of a vast library of sets and parts and then watch the prototype being built and previewed. The computer keeps asking us if we want more changes or additions, even working on a specific part of the design and it makes the changes/additions until it looks right to us, and then we press the "Make" button and your 3D creation is built and assembled as a package ready to be used with a 3D host program.
I'm just dreaming folks, wouldn't it be nice or is this around the corner?
Beam me up Scotty.....
