As long as you install the Mac OS X version of Poser, it's completely compatible!

Seriously, I use Poser 7 and Poser Pro on a two-year-old first generation iMac 2GHz Core Duo with 2GB RAM and an ATI 1600X graphics card. Not at all top end by today's standards.

You should have no problems at all with the MacBook Pro. The limitations on Poser usage with a laptop computer are mainly with graphics, memory size, and hard disk space. But with that specification you should have have no difficulties.

Oh wait a moment... you need to check the specification of the MacBook Pro base graphics card, the 9400M. Many on-board shared-memory notebook graphics chipsets do not fully support OpenGL.

It's probably worth going for the GT graphics card option if it's available for your selected model and you have the dosh.

But better wait for other input on this.

If you indeed purchase a MAC, the very first thing to do is to reset your monitor gamma to 2.2 to keep in compliance with the rest of the real world.  MAC still boasts a 'native' gamma = 1.8 which delivers a brighter screen but, given digital cameras, printers and web standards, will results in darker prints and image uploads if not properly adjusted.

Agreed, if you buy a Mac with OS X 10.5 (Leopard).

With the release of OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) in September, Apple are changing the default gamma setting to 2.2, so you won't need to change it yourself.

Here's an issue I just discovered with my Mac Mini. Check your OpenGL and make sure it is at LEAST 1.3. My mini's only 1.2 with no way to upgrade, so I just found out I'm locked out of even trying to run DS3. Don't know if PoserPro or P8 will also have that problem, but it is something to consider especially if you're planning to get a laptop or low end Mac.

I run P7 on three different generations of laptops and have had no problem with any of them. My iMac G5 used to have the occasional crash, but I'd not had one on any of the laptops.
