I need a little help and am hopein someone here can help. Am trying to make a custom v4 head but when i take it out of zbrush and do my little things then get it on to v4 base and do 1000 the head jumps up. Am kind of just playing about with zbrush but i keep getting this every time i do. Does anyone know how to fix it

i had the same problem it was a pita! ya need poser scaler from zbrush site...import with that...do your morph...export with scaler

It's a known bug between Poser and ZBrush and it happens because Poser uses a very tiny unit system. To fix it, you'll have to scale your mesh a few 100x up before importing into ZB, and then the same value down before importing into Poser. You can get a free OBJ Scalar tool for this here:

SandyLodge

There is also a ZB script for doing it from within ZB but i don't have the link, so try searching for it at:

Apparently, you don't need the PoserScaler in 3.5R3 (and I don't think it works anyway)
They've sorted the Poser import out (I've not had any scaling type problems since the upgrade)

So does scaling help with the "pixelated" look in Zbrush when you import an OBJ model.  I just downloaded the Zbrush trial and pulled in A3's OBJ.  It's terribly jagged and I don't know if I need to scale up, subdivide or both.

Help?

That's probably because it's a relatively low rez mesh (compared to what ZBrush can do anyway.)  Scaling won't help with that but subdividing the mesh will.  If you are making morphs though, remember to drop back to the lowest subdiv level before you export them or they won't work

There isn't a whole lot of point in subdividing in Zbrush and doing a highly detailed sculpt, and then going back down to the 0 subdivision, unless maybe you are trying to get a displacement map out of it.

yup although you can use decimation master to transfer an amazing amount of detail back onto a lower rez mesh (still wouldn't help for making morphs though)

Hmm...I'm pretty adept at using Poser's morph brush tool for custom sculpting.  Considering I'm creating morphs for the relatively low-res Daz figures, is there really any point in getting Zbrush for that?  After using the trial,  it seems like the answer is "no" unless I really wanted to use Zbrush for higher res modeling/morphing for art, etc.  Is that right?

if you only want to make morphs then yeah, ZBrush is probably overkill.  I use it for all sorts of things so it's worth it to me
