Subject: Parenting Problems

I'm importing 3DS props into Poser. Basically I get the prop all lined up to where I want the right hand to grip it, then I click on Object>Change Parent and choose the right hand. BOOM the prop goes completely beserk and changes its position with relation to the right hand. How do I stop it from doing this stupid action???

WTF??!!

are you importing the 3ds and saving it to the prop library, then delete it from the scene and reload from the library ?  Then position and parent it .

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. When I import the prop I need to check a couple boxes in the import dialog screen and that seems to fix the problem. :)
