Subject: V4 Wardrobe Malfunction - Salome

Okay, I got Salome while it was on sale the last couple days, since it had been in my wishlist forever.  Now, obviously, having gotten it I wanted to play, but when I apply any morphs to the skirt (after conforming and magnetizing as the instructions included said) it jumps about, spikes form and the skirt goes crazy.  Never had this problem with any other clothing, so... yeah after nearly 6 years, I am running into something new designed to make me want to pull my hair out.  Spent the morning so far trying to sort this out to no avail.

The spikes which run vertically appear regardless of whether the morphs are applied via the Body or Hip, the skirt jumping all over is only if they are applied via the hip.

Has anyone else run into this, and more importantly, know how to fix it.

Using Poser 8.03.

Thanks in advance.

I have looked at skirt and see that does happen with certain morphs.
It seems to be the ones that would be a V4 FBM, I have never used those on the skirt before.
The ones that are unique to skirt (e.g., Skirt_FullBack1) do not seem to have this problem.
The problem seems to happen in both P8 and PP2010.
For mean time, I am at loss to help.

Any of the V4 FBMs seem to cause it, most especially the elite morphs, they appear to be the worst offenders.  A big reason I wanted it was for the support for the elite morphs, especially fantasia (curvy is awesome).  I own several other items from this vendor and none of their other clothing seems to have this problem.  Heck, I always found their stuff easier than normal to use.

Thanks for confirming it isn't just me that is having issues with the possessed skirt though.

I wonder if it has duplicate morphs and any morph value you add is multiplying the morph out a few times.

I have had this on clothes I have made, where a rogue duplicate gets into the cr2, so when I set the value of a morph to 1, it sets the duplicate to 1 as well, thus applying the morph twice and making it go a bit nutty.

Just a thought.

Okay, since I have never actually made anything, am just starting to learn the basics of modelling so I haven't gottn on to editing cr2's and such, how would I go about checking that?

A jolly good question indeed.  I dont remember how P8 displays morphs PPro2010 has a handy feature where it shows you the total strength of the morph on the body part.

I dont own the item myself so it's hard for me to explain.

If I can find a buddy who has a copt of Salome I can have a look at it with them to see if I can spot the issue.

Much appreciated, goodness knows I wouldn't have a clue what I am looking at.

Guess since I am having to reinstall due to other issues, this would be a good time to go and reorganize those runtimes that have gotten out of hand...

I removed FBM and save skirt back to library.

Then I makes PMD file from V4 with the Elite Morphs and V4 FBM and apply to stripped skirt.  The problem not happen after that.

I use PMD in case some other channels are adding strength to morph (as mention by Fugazi), although not actually see visible indication of this number in PP2010

Okay, got the first part, goodness knows I have stripped morphs off a figure now and then, mostly when I have been messing around with some of the head morphs I have made.

Saving back to the library, again.  Got that.

Now, how do I create a PMD file from V4 that I can apply to the skirt?  Cause I am lost there.

No rush for an answer right at this second, as I said, I am having to reinstall Poser cause it decided to suffer a total nervous breakdown on me today (just after I posted this actually).

There are days when I wonder if this will all eventually drive me insane. :)

To make PMD, I use "Morphing Clothes" program by Dimension3D, available at Rendo

One other advantage of PMD is that you can add morph while clothing is conformed.
You can use other morph transfer utilities if you don't need to add morphs on the fly.
When clothing is saved, morphs will be in standard format unless you have external binary enabled.

Ah, well then I am stuck.  I don't have Morphing Clothes and not going to be buying anything until I get my tax return back.

Looks like a case of Cross Talk.  I had that happen to a few outfits.  Try loading the figure and only that one piece of clothing that is giving you the problem and see if it still gives you a problem.

Will have to check after the scene I have rendering finishes.  With any luck it won't be all evening about it.

I'm glad to find out that I'm not the only one having this problem.  I was having the same problem with both the skirt and the top.  When you add morphs you get a black line and either the morphs go crazy or it won't render at all.  I found that if I add morphs slowly and don't put them all in one place, you get the problem to stop.  For instance, if you need a 0.8 "Amazon" or "Voluptuous" morph in the skirt to get it to cover your character and you get the line, dial the morph back to 0.6 or whatever until the line disappears, then start adding morphs to the thighs, hips or whatever until you get the results you want.  In other words, spread the morph out over the separate body parts.  It sounds stupid, but it works without having to buy any scripts or utilities.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions.
