Subject: Why isn't my saved pose applied to other figures exactly as saved?

Michaelab ( ) posted Wed, 13 April 2011 at 8:48 AM · edited Wed, 04 October 2023 at 8:56 PM

I have saved a pose (David 3) to my library (poser 8) and then opened up another david 3 character, applied the pose and it doesn't apply exactly what was saved. Does anybody know why or how to get poser to do it right?

Turn IK OFF before you apply the pose.

[menu] "Figure" >>> "Use Inverse Kinematics"

UNcheck "LeftLeg" and "RightLeg"

Now load your pose.

Thanks, geep. Did that, clicked on Apply Universal Pose but didn't change the results. It gets the legs and body correct but the arms and hands are significantly off. (and yes, they're Inverse Kinematics are turned off as well)

Any ideas out there or a way to make it work precisely?

Do BOTH Davids have the same morphs applied before you try and load the pose?

The original david figure didn't have Kinematics applied when pose was saved. But, what do you mean by having the same morphs applied? I've tried all sorts of saving options when saving the pose. Nothing seems to work.

I suggest not using the universal pose option. Use the single check mark to apply as original pose.  Any morphs applied that change the limb lengths will mess up the pose.

A universal pose recalculates the positions based on differences in the limb length, so they are better than just applying a pose from another character, they are nor perfect.

A pose made with a character should apply exactly to the same character.

Had already tried that one, markschum, but ahh... I found what it was.

I had applied Pose Magic to the origninal pose and the saved pose was not recognizing its pose. Too bad, now I have to go back and resopose without using Pose Magic and I'm sure it will work because once I removed Pose Magic the pose was exactly what the new david was showing in its pose when applying universal pose from the previous character.

Hope that made sense.
