Hi Guys,

Started City Block Eleven and here is an early look at the back side of the Band Shell.

Yes this set is the City Park with many goodies, not seen in this view.

Kids toys, Pavilion with picnic tables,

sand box, etc..

Hope you like the start of it.

Still have many details to add.

Tom

Now that is looking good. A real change from the blocks you made before.

Hi Gary,

Thanks a lot! It is comments like that, that help me keep going with my work.

It might be a week or so before this product is finished as I am currently working on a 1954 Chevy Bel Air two door car.

As a matter of fact it is the first in a line of low polygon count cars that will hopefully be under 50,000 polygons, instead of what you usually see available here and there for anywhere from 250,000 to 1,000,000 polygons. They are not going to have interiors. Just wheels that can turn.

The purpose is so you can have many, many more cars in a scene than if you were using the high poly count cars from elsewhere.

Here is a little look at part of the Chevy.

Keep in mind it is still under construction. :-)

Great work on the sets AND the new line of low(er) poly cars.  Count on me to be one of the first in line....    - Ray

Yes Low Poly cars so we can populate the streets of City Blocks with out causing a traffic jam on our processors when trying to render with high poly cars will just make all you store items much more valuable and advantageous to use.

Have a few low poly prop cars that work in brackground as fillers. But City blocks is a very popular place, so one would expect more then 2 or 3 cars on the street or parked at the curb to fill out a scene.

Hi Guys,

Sorry about not getting back sooner but I have been buried in modeling this first car the Chevy Bel Air.

Thanks for the nice words.

Here is another look at a car that is under 50,000 polygons. Yes it is good for close ups.

Hi Cherokee,

Sorry about the long wait but I was really in to building cars. really needed a break from the City Block sets as they are a huge amount of work to create. I am back on City Block Eleven now and hope to have it done very soon.

Here is another look at where I am on it.

thanks for your patience. :-)

Tom,

That looks good but you know, I've not seen a BBQ like that one at a park. The grill is usually a simple retangular grill stuck on a pole.

DreamlandModels ( ) posted Thu, 20 October 2011 at 10:39 PM

That is a fireplace. The grills have not been added yet as well as a bunch of other items.

Hope all is well with you!

Excellent work (as always!) Tom!

OK, here's a stupid/naive question...  If I have Poser/DS, but also want to delve into Vue, what is the 'best' option for me to purchase - the Vue version or Poser?  What do I lose if I go for the more portable Poser version, then use it in Vue?

Tks,

Ray

Hi Ray,

sorry for the delay but I am knee deep in modeling cars and do do post here as much as I should.

The short answer is buy the product that you want to use it for. Vue for Vue Poser for Poser.

Example.

If you load a city block set which on average have more than 300 materials in them many with individual texture maps, then there would be a huge amount of work on the textures.

If you have nothing but a lot of time and i do mean a lot, then feel free to try your hand at going from Poser to Vue.

As I do not like the export system in Vue I would not reccomend going from Vue to Poser.

Also there is alway the two different ways tht each program determines scale.

So with out you having to use a Vulcan mind meld on me ( which I do not reccomend, as my head can be a scary place) It would take me a very long time to explain how to go about this question you have proposed.

So back to the original question.

Buy Poser for Poser and Vue for Vue,

unless you are very savey at both nprograms.

Hope this helps you somehow.

Now back to my 1937 Buick special.

Here is an early test render done in Vue with an HDRI lighting setup.

Some details might have changed sinse this image but very minor changes.

Thanks for your interest Ray! :-)

Regards, Tom

Tom,

Any thoughts on when CB11 will be released?

DreamlandModels ( ) posted Wed, 09 November 2011 at 9:11 AM

Hi Cherokee,

CB11 is something that has been lowered in priority for myself as I have lost interest for the time being in creating them. The city blocks are also not financially sound as they take a long time to build. However, CB11 is not something that will never be created, so keep your eyes open in the coming months.

Sorry to dissapoint you.

Tom
