Does the shader have an ambient value in it?

Agree with meatSim. You'll need to have a look in the material room in the advanced tab for anything skin. Certain shaders were designed to have ambient_value > 0. Unfortunately, simply making it zero isn't going to fix the problem.

Depending on your version of Poser, may I suggest VSS by Bagginsbill, which comes with an excellent skin shader.

Yeah, it looks like ambient plus IBL to me as well.

WARK!

Im using poser pro 2012 and also using bills VSS =-)

Should i look for ambient and set the values to 0?

the only ambiant you have with vss is the idl bounce like say Winterclaw, vss does not include ambiant light, it dont need it.

In ppro2012 you can remove this light bounce by unchecking the "Light Emitter" parameter in the properties panel.

Yes.

VSS PR1 PR2 and PR3 were written for Poser 7 or less. They assumed you did not have IDL, did not have GC, etc.

You do not want to use that shader with PP2012. You want to use one of the shaders I have posted at RDNA - the best being the S+B shader I showed on James. I posted a VSS-ready version of that skin shader.

However, you can use PR3 with PP2012 - you must make two adjustments.

One, if render GC is on, then in the VSS skin shader, change PM:Gamma to 1. It is 2.2 by default, which does the GC in the shader. You do not want to double up on GC.

Second, if using IDL, you want to decrease the PM:SSS value. The default is 1 - try .3. This parameter adds red to the shadowed (less lit) areas, particularly armpits, between legs, etc. Because IDL bounces skin-colored light between these surfaces, the additional red makes it appear to glow - you do not want so much of that in the shader.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Sweet Bill, can you hit me up with the link to that S+B shader.

I believe it's in this thread. Have a read of it, anyway. The whole thing is worth getting your head around.
