Subject: Reality Render thread. A new beginning.

It's called Erato Hair, here on Rendo.

Abi.

Thinking about buying it, I like the look. Do you use it a lot? anything you especially like/dislike about the hair? (you can PM me or respond in the thread whichever you prefer, just looking for a little "review" from ya, thanks 😄)

Michael

I actually ran that render to try the hair - I've only just installed it.  It does have a lot of adjustment/shaping morphs and i love the outcome with that render so I'll deffinetly be using it again.

Thanks Callad :)

Don't know who the kissing couple is, but it is the girl's mother looking through the window.

Isn't the presence of a toddler reason enough to drink?  My kids are 14, 7, 4, 2 1/2 and 5 months and I've considered it frequently over the years.

Yes, it absolutely is.  Almost a necessity sometimes. Glad someone has me beat on kids.  Mine are 10, 10 (twins), 6 and 3.  I get terrible looks everywhere I go like 4 kids is some insane amount.

Very nice. Which Film response did you use?

This is the Kodachrome 200. Agfachrome rsx2 200 is the one I use the most and also use Kodachrome 64 a bit.

Yeah... it's odd today.  We get ppl all the time asking us if we're mormon or something with all the kids.  It's an odd deal.. kind of a weird brady bunch.  2 are mine by my ex, 1 is her by her ex, and 2 are ours.  4 boys and the youngest is a girl.  We said if this one was a girl we were done.  My opinion?  I was done 3 kids ago; but, we have a big rowdy happy crazy family.

Damn, when do you find time to get on the computer, geeez!

I was married awhile back (with an 8 yr old, hers) and couldn't find time for hobbies/the PC/time for myself, can't imagine having that many kids.

probably why I am an insensitive jerk when my employees have familiy issues such as lack of a baby sitter and can't make it to work, LOL.

Mike.. all my kids are vidiots of some sort or another.  Oldest is the typical teen and generally surly and hiding in his room.. 7 and 4 yr olds are usually harassing and beating the crap out of each other.. that right there doesn't need ME to supervise.. they have it down to a science..  2yr old is ultra smart and usually tooling around the house seeing what mischief he can get into.. and the baby is just a hood ornament right now.. not much is needed with her other than the occasional lap time and wife takes care of the feeding issue w/her.  Other than that.. they're getting filthy outside, playing vid games, surfing netflix.  All stuff that only needs the "make sure they're not killing each other or the neighbors" glance once in a while.  That and I just need to set a render baking and walk away.  For me it usually takes 8 to 24 hrs for one to be finished and the computer is too slogged out to do anything else; so, I go off and beat the kids or try to leave them at a park or something.

callad ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2012 at 2:04 PM

Hmm.. your kids sound pretty normal to me :)

medmon ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2012 at 5:27 PM

I was sitting here , bored, watching my render bake, when I came up with what I think is a cool idea, something I would love to see:

Let's have a little event, not a contest, just a showcase, where we each post our all-time favorite Reality render that we have done.  It's ok in this case to repost something you already posted in the old DAZ thread (or even here). Kinda like a stroll down memory lane.

I know choosing a favorite is hard, so, maybe pick two 😄

I am not really very proud of any of my renders, but I LOVE looking at all of YOURS.

But, in the spirit of the event I will post one I really like:

a Werewolf of London

This is the most complex scene I have attempted, the rain is postworked in PaintShopPro X3.

Hope you like, and POST YOURS NOW 😄

Michael

PEM BotJust When I though they Cured the NOISE!  UGGH! seems as it renders the noise increases.

Modeled this little Guy in Wings3D and imported into Daz3D just so I can use Reality 2.5 ^_^

Its for a friend. He Created the Idea of a PEM bot back in 1998 for a crazy story of his. I thinks he is going to Love it... now if I can get it to render properly

This may sound like a cheeky answer, but...till it's ready 😄

At 1.5 kspp you are past what I usually render to, but with the reflective surface you may need quite a bit more. Only you can decide when it is "finished" .

Also, I didn't notice but as Bobvan pointed out you are using a kinda old version of Luxrender. Version 1.0RC4 is out on the luxrender download page now 😄 (aha you snuck a post in while I was typing! sneaky)

Nice render overall, I like bots.

Did you install in the same folder as the old version? perhaps the new EXE didn't get written? or maybe one of the DLLs ...

Maybe try a clean install of 1.0RC4? (after this one is done rendering 😄 No need to fix it if it's working to your satisfaction with .8)

Ugh.. so I reinstalled 1.0rc4. and now its pointing to version 1.0... should I start all over in the new version or continue the render in 1.0??? WHAAAAAAHHH!

let it run :) until you are dissatisfied with .8 :) Shame to throw away 1.5Kspp+ of work

your quality probably won't change much going to version 1.0RC4, just gain some speed and some fixes and a couple new options I think. Should be ok finishing with .8

Maybe as an exercise, run it again with 1.0 to compare your speed?

Well, as Bob said you should switch to 1.0, unless you are using Reality 1.x Lux 0.8 is not supported by Reality 2 so you might encounter a series of problems, especially with metals. If you still use Reality then stay with 0.8 but I would suggest an upgrade as soon as you can.

Regarding the amount of rendering, I would let it go until it reaches at leas 2500 samples.

Cheers.

Than you have installed Lux in another place or your didn't update the configuration of Reality. Please note that you need to set the path in Reality even if you overwrite Lux in the same directory.

Wallace I think water glass and that type of surface take longer I let this one run for 9 plus hours and applied some minor post work or I could of let it run longer but it was fine for the story frame its serving. Without the glass it would of been done in 3 hours or less..

Nice render, Bob. However, in all your renders I am having trouble reading the chat bubbles even when viewing the image at full size. I understand wanting the text to be as un-intrusive as possible, but maybe you can post the images in a little larger size? or blow up the text a teense? I feel I am missing an important element in your renders 😄

Just a thought. Keep up the great work
