Subject: where does michael 5 go in DAZ studio?

iborg64 ( ) posted Sat, 13 October 2012 at 2:52 PM · edited Sun, 04 August 2024 at 2:41 AM

just bought michael 5 for DAZ studio but when I run the installer I get an error "michael 5 is an add on for Genesis and they must be installed in the same location"

whats it looking for , as always I installed DAZ studio to default location so I expected DAZ installers to know where everything should go anybody know exactly where to put it ?

M5 is a Morph for genensis ... not a figure itself .. so you need to have Gn installed etc etc

I must have Genesis (I think ) because victoria 5 works ok

I have had similar issues with installs - it's just a matter of telling the installer where to put the files.  For the most part, the installers "get it right", but every once in a while it loses the correct path.

Should be something like (yours may be different):

../My Library/PeopleGenesis

Do another install and make sure it's going to the correct path.

Just tried that still get the same error is there a file its looking for in that location? definately have genesis as victoria 5 works and female Genesis characters work as well

My Library should be the default target, unless you chose a different location for the content. The folder you isntall to should already contain DataDAZ 3DGenesisGenesis.dsf (and you install to the folder that holds the data folder, not the Genesis folder itself).

yes tried that everything was left as default when installing DAZ studio so following from the two answers above file path should be Cusersmy namemy documentsDAZ3Dstudiomy librarydataDAZ 3DGenesis

and that it is where I try to install it , to the my library where the Data folder is do you know what file it is looking for ? maybe I could try to find it manualy first

At least you are not alone with this issue, I am having the same issue that you are, and awaiting an answer so I/we can get going again.

No, the path should be C:usersmy namemy documentsDAZ 3Dstudiomy library - the Data and so on foldrs are created/merged with by the isntaller, you just tell it where they are.

hooray fixed it, a search of my entire hard drive for Genesis.dsf found the only copy was in C:Program FilesSmith MicroPoser Pro 2012dataDAZ 3DGenesisBaseUV SetsDAZ 3DBase so copied it over to the correct place and the installer worked no idear what it was doing there as the only place must have been something to do with updateing DAZ studio and or the installation of Dson
