Howdy;

I need some expert advice:

I added a plaster material
to the wall of this room...
but in my final render there
are irregularities that show
on the plaster as you can see.
The plaster should show a nice
and even uniform structure.
Why is this happening?...

I am using Poser Pro 2012
with default light settings.

Thanks for viewing.

Did you use the single sided square or the  other square.  If you don't use the single sided square you will get defects.

Sorry,  but...single sided square?...what are we talking about here?...

Sorry, assumed you built room. Just for a test, add a .1 inch displacement on the walls and see if it renders differently.

No...did not build the room...its a prop form the Nike art set.

How do i go about adding the 1 inch displacement?...

hborre ( ) posted Sat, 16 March 2013 at 11:04 AM

Material Room, displacement value on the PoserSurface.  I have seen someone connect a white simple color node to it to accomplish the same thing.

Sorry...but i am still lost
in the material room in the
displacement map of the poser
surface when i go to add a new
node there are many options:
math
lighting
variables
3d textures
2d textures

which one of these do i use?...
furhtermore...each one expands
into different options...
which one to use?...

Overall displacement of surface.

Agreed.

I have found that a variety of things can cause this. First thing I would look at is the "crease angle" under your properties tag for the object. Try decreasing the Cr untill the issue clears up, you may have to go down as low as 10 or 20. Sometimes its an issue with the mesh. If thats the case you can bring it into your modeling program and try futher subdividing the mesh and flattening each plane

chris1972 ( ) posted Sun, 17 March 2013 at 3:01 AM

or you might need to increase the crease angle, sometimes you just have to experiment to see what solves the problem. It is sometimes a seat of the pants proposition

There may be another posibility. What is the minimum shadow bias on your lights?
