Subject: Help with the power barbarians fur and reflection

MadDemon64 ( ) posted Sat, 16 March 2013 at 10:47 PM · edited Thu, 13 February 2025 at 12:28 PM

Hello, I am wondering if anyone can help me.  I cannot seem to get the fur option for any of the power barbarian's clothing to work.  I have tried attaching both versions of the clothing (one after the other but not both at the same time), but neither give the fur.  Am I doing something wrong?  Same applies to applying the reflections

Did you happen to glance at the product description?

It says "not compatible with DS"

The fur is stranded and made in the Poser Hair Room

I saw it.  I just never understood it.

If you want to spend between $20 to $50 you can use one of the packages below to approximate the look of that Poser product

http://www.daz3d.com/furify-fur-shaders
http://www.daz3d.com/garibaldi-express-hair-system-for-daz-studio
http://www.daz3d.com/look-at-my-hair

But when a vendor specifically says "We dont support DS", it means you should consider some other product.

You might also try adding a noise map, or a procedural noise in Shader Mixer, to create the fur - there was a thread on making fur with displacement using Shader Mixer in the old DAZ forum - forumarchive.daz3d.com. Reflections are pretty easy to set up, just dial up the Reflection Strength in the Surfaces pane with no map attached to reflection colour (and make sure there's something in the scene, and lit, to be reflected).

Thanks for the pointers to the fur. I have Look-At-My-Hair, but havent used it yet, I am to much of a newbe. I think the furify-fur-shaders are more my speed...for now. :-)

LAMH is a great product...and the learning curve is pretty short.

There are some nice tutorials to get you up to speed quickhere:

I just did a quick render of the Power Barbarian in DS using the Furify shader. The other surfaces have to be redone, since DS doesn't recognize the bump or displacement from Poser quite right.

Unfortunately I am not an anykind of expert, but it looks like it came out pretty good. The fur is excellent.
