Subject: how to save a prop

lululee ( ) posted Mon, 24 August 2015 at 5:19 PM ยท edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 10:30 AM

Hi'
I modeled a belt that is a smart prop.
I can export it into DS but how do I save it so I can include it in a set I am making.
Thanks

Good point because if you didn't put "Smart" in front of this I would have said save it as a Support Asset >figures/props I am not sure why you wouldn't go the same route anyway. Did you try?

Make sure it's parented to the required bone in the scene tab, and with just it selected go "File > Save as > Support asset > Figure/prop Asset", you'll then get the standard save window to create the DUF file, once that's done the Assets window will open, fill in the data and at the bottom select "smart parenting".

Hi,
Thanks so much for the valuable info.
It works fine saving it as the support asset with the "smart prop".
I tried to open the .duf file and it looks like something in a foreign language but everything works well.
I am used to being able to open a pp2 file and reading that to see if there is a connection to an obj file but I guess if it works all should be well.

If you want a readable duf, uncheck "compress file" on save dialog.
There may be a dialog for decompressing existing files, but I just use WinRar because I find it easier

Window>Panes(Tabs)>Batch Convert can be used for compressing/uncompressing - though I too use a zip tool, 7 Zip in my case.
