Try making the specular color a light (high value) but intense (rich saturation) blue, rather than white. In the poster, the highlights are a brilliant rich blue. Don't know if that will get you what you want, but it's quick 'n' easy to try.

The suit in the film was "chromed" latex + other layers. The chrome will change how the specular works which might explain why its difficult to match
Hmmmm. It would be interesting to see the effect of a Fresnel_Blend node (base color inner, intense brighter shade outer) driving a microfacet_ks node might be.

If you're home (not at sea), you could send me the textured wip mesh. If at sea, a screenshot of the shader you are using. I'll experiment a bit. Don't know if it will work. Oh, if you don't hear from me for some time, it's likely due to connectivity issues. My in-house local net works fine, but I keep losing internet connection.

Nice! The sample image reminded me of the effect of using a coating layer in other render engines which makes the surface nearer the light brighter but the other faces darker. The metal effect in the suit may be causing that. One thought is making a chrome/gold material and blending it with a latex material using a fabric/chain mail like mask - this would probably work better in Superfly than Firefly as the mask would need to be quite fine.
My instructor in my color theory class in college said something that stuck with me for years. Color is dependent on the color, angle and type of light being used to illuminate the object. Certain shades of red will look purplish in florescent light as a key example. Go by what you have learned about the material elsewhere and you will most likely come across the shade you were looking for.

Got your email, Rokket. I'll likely be working on my network setup this evening -time permitting- but I'll experiment with materials on your suit once I get the network fixed. If I get the network fixed. ><
That last render is looking good. :D

Well Earl, I have to agree. It seems that all those "Big TV and Movie Boys" have absolutely NO inspiration left.
They just "shrinkwrap" some latex on their stars and "Go".
And really, I just "hate" shrinkwrapping. Most Poser clothing is completely "molested" by shrinkwrapping it to the figures.
That's a "function" that should be "un-invented". It completely destroys reality.
@ tony Yeah, I've noticed. Every picture of this suit looks different. So I settled for a happy medium. I am going to render it in a few different lighting situations when I do the promo shots anyhow.
And I didn't know about the mustache. That's pretty funny, really. Now when I see the movie, I will be looking for the mistakes!

Someone familiar with RGB or HTML color codes for GIMP/Photoshop, can you please help me?
I've used the color picker, but the lighting and materials on this suit make it impossible to pin down the color. I am trying to match the overall blue hue on Superman's suit.
I have the RGB codes for the Man of Steel movie suit, but this one is different. Just lowering the HSV doesn't get my anywhere near. Here is what I came up with, and as you can see, it's not even close. I was thinking maybe change the specular color, but I don't know if that will do it.
Any suggestions?
