Subject: IMPORTING CONTENT ISSUE

Taomation ( ) posted Sat, 12 May 2018 at 3:17 AM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 4:33 PM

Hi,

Not really a new user, but I don't use this function often and it's kind of neophyte question. I bought a 3d Bull from Daz 3d. I downloaded both versions of it. I watched an online video of how to import it. Followed it. It seemed to work, but didn't show up in my download folder. I refreshed it...nothing -- exited the program and tried it again...nada. I also tried the same process again got an error message. I tried everything I just said a couple more times, then called for back up...you all.

Any suggestions? Very frustrating...

Below are two screenshots...one of the files I am trying to import and the other the error message I'm getting. Thanks, guys...Ian Screen Shot 2018-05-12 at 1.03.13 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-12 at 1.02.43 AM.png

I figured out the path issue. I had other checked instead of downloads, but still can't find it. It knows its in there. I overwrote it. I also did a search and it doesn't see it. Thanks...

I don't know exactly what you did, but the way I get poser content from DAZ store into poser is as follows.

Extract the files from the zip file then copy the runtime folder and paste this so that it is merged with a poser runtime.

The problem with DAZ content is that the runtime folder is in a folder named content so poser's install funtion doesn't work properly

Hi Nails,

Thanks for the response. If I understood you correctly, this is what I did. I extracted the zip grabbed the Runtime folder from it, then dropped into Poser's runtime folber. (screen captures below) I'm still not getting anything. Please let me know if you see that I did something wrong. Thanks...Screen Shot 2018-05-12 at 1.08.55 PM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-12 at 1.08.13 PM.png

I think you might have dropped it in the wrong runtime. There will be two runtimes in Poser 10 folders on your system. One will be in program files. Don't put anything in this. Another should be in public documents if you followed the default install of Poser. If you put it in this it will show up, BUT it is not a good idea. You will find in this poser 10 folder another folder called downloads which contains a yet another folder named runtime. You can put it in there.

But you might want to create a new library. I've explained about this here

The problem is that you can't put a Runtime folder within another Runtime folder. You need to merge the Runtime folders instead.

Oops, didn't notice that on screen grab :-(

I've been having this same problem with Poser 11 for random files. And it's not Daz ones, but ones I've got here and from elsewhere. I've used the built in Poser 11 ZIP extracter and can see the files in the correct folders (no double Runtime ones), but Poser isn't seeing them. Even installing by hand doesn't fix it.

Even installing by hand doesn't fix it.

I have always manually installed items I've purchased from here, HiveWire, DAZ and RDNA (before it closed), and I have never had a problem seeing the items in the Library of whatever version of Poser I happened to be using.

Then again, I don't install to the default location. I have all my 2D and 3D applications in folders named 2D Applications and 3D Applications at the C: level, so I don't have a Runtime in Program Files, and ignore any Documents directory related folders.

The weird thing is, if I install these files into Poser 9, they work (but obviously not in Poser 9 itself).

So IOW, if I'm understanding you correctly, you can install them to P9, but they only work if you access your P9 Library from P11? That is weird.

Then again, depending on the products, some newer items are made for P10/PP2014 or higher, so they don't work well in P9. I've come across that issue while beta testing products that were created in PP2014. They work fine in my PP11, but cough up issues if I try testing them in my older P9. I never got P10 or PP2014, so it's P9 or PP11 for me, and I'm slowly moving stuff over to PP11, because I won't be actually "using" P9, just accessing it's Library from PP11, or new versions, when they finally come out.

Nod, have you got all the updates to Poser 11. I seem to recall there were some library problems when poser 11 came out, so that I had to load some items into a scene in poser 10 then save back to library to use them in poser 11, but this was overcome by later updates.

Are you saving into the default libraries? I know the poser manual says you can't delete the default libraries, but I found you can delete the downloads library and point to a previous downloads library. In this case if you try to put content into downloads as shown as the default it puts it into the old, deleted downloads, but if you use the drop down menu and select downloads then it puts it into the correct downloads library.

That's it exactly. I've also got the latest version of Poser Pro 11. Like yourself, I use the Poser 9 Runtime for older stuff. All new stuff is installed onto Poser 11. I just installed the ZIP to Poser 9 for a laugh, then was stunned to see that it showed up in Poser 11. I didn't do anything different, other than use the Poser 9 Runtime. The file won't even run in Poser 9, as the figure is designed for Superfly, so it's not even like it's been set up for Poser 9.

I'm blaming ghosties.?

I have the newest version. And I have a few Runtimes on the go. For some reason though, the ZIP won't show up in any Poser 11 folder, not even one I created called ZIP Test. I've only ever had this happen with two other ZIPs and that was a while back. They're labelled correctly, they just don't show in Poser 11, not even with a search. It's like they go invisible. It's the weirdest thing ever.

One last wild shot, if using windows right click on one of the offending files and look at the properties and see if there is anything weird in the security properties.
