Filing a ticket is probably your best option with this issue tbh as there are so many variables. All I can say is that both 3Delight and IRay are both pretty stable on my system and both will render no matter the type of material presets applied.
This may be a bit 'try turning of and on', but have you tried resetting the render settings to default for 3Delight just in case something was changed at some point that could be causing the issue?
I'd spot it to you anyway. You do more than your share of good deeds around here. :) I'm waiting for a reply from Daz, but I don't expect much. And no, I don't want waste any more time on that. It no longer matters to me. I turned on the Iray noise filter and set the degrain slider to clean up the render output. I started working with interactive render for faster output. I'm experimenting with a few other little things and am now very happy with Iray. It's time to populate my gallery.
I once had a consistent crash with 3DL (same spot on a particular render) - I never did get it to work but it had something to do with transparency, displacement, and ambient occlusion (I was using pwSurface at the time). Other than that though it's pretty stable. I mostly use Iray these days (unless I'm using pwToon).

I've talked about the render crashes I have with 3Delight. I finally sent a note to Daz along with my log file. We'll see what they say. Am I the only one who experiences routine render crashes with 3Delight? I took the G8 female base figure and applied the Daz bundled 3Delight materials to both the figure and the eyelashes that load with it. Daz crashed on every attempt to render with 3Delight, no matter what I did or tried. I'm coming to the conclusion that 3Delight is a waste of time in Daz because my system will render anything I ask it to render in Iray without a crash. Is this the lesson I'm supposed to learn?
