Subject: Resources vanish

Upgraded and the program works BUT the resources on the right side fail to show up unless I click on the open figure.......... Strange quirk

I think your OS AND a screenshot would be helpful. The term "Resources" is rather open-ended.

Do you mean the entire library? I've noticed that, the first time I load Poser after the updates (in my case updateS because I was an early adopter), the library would load completely white. Just the first time the program opened. I just closed Poser and opened it again and it was solved.

Online Now!

If we are talking the default setup of the Poser panels, that would make it the Parameter/Preferences panel on the right side of the preview window.

I love how some people are total assholes.... you seem to fit the bill..... I was referring to the entire library that should appear on the right but in my case is all white.

What happens if you Look under the Windows menu and put a check by Libraries? Looks like you have it undocked AND turned off in the screen shot.

Afrodite-Ohki ( ) posted Wed, 25 September 2019 at 12:24 PM

That's exactly what was happening to me the first time I loaded Poser after a reinstall, but then after I closed the program and loaded it again it fixed the problem. If you've reloaded it after the update, try what EClark said - does that solve the problem?

I looked under the windows tab and yes, the show content is checked. Any other ideas????

Does it work if you set your library to external mode?

Yes..... I am totally puzzled.

I tried something different. When I opened Poser I noticed that the hard drive light was running so I waited almost 8 minutes for it to stop and when it did the resources popped onto the screen. I find it strange that suddenly this seems to be the new normal but I guess I can live with the slowness.

That was actually what I was going to suggest next, as mine does that everytime I boot up. Still, 8 minutes is a little excessive. The longest I ever waited I think was 30 seconds to a minute. And that was before the update.

A couple of options.

Do you have 'Refresh on Launch' checked in the Library tab of your General Preferences? Maybe that's the cause.

Or in the library options, is 'Reopen Folders' checked? That may cause a slowdown too.

You might also check your User Preferences and see if your Library Search options are set on Deep or Shallow. Set it to Shallow.

BINGO...... that did it. The setting was to DEEP.
The instant I changed it the resources appeared.
Thank you so very much.....
I hope others check to be sure they do not have the same problem setting

randym77 ( ) posted Sat, 28 September 2019 at 10:56 PM

Interesting. Mine was set to deep, too. I don't think I ever changed it, so maybe that's the default?

Didn't take much time to load up, but I have a lot of fairly small runtimes, rather than a few big ones, so maybe that makes a difference?

EClark1894 ( ) posted Sun, 29 September 2019 at 3:43 PM

I think DEEP is the default. I prefer to put it on Shallow or NONE.
