Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 07 11:07 am)
Brows: because they stand out, I think you have UpperEyeBrow there. I trust that the highlights for this are 255 x3. But this does not look like a ghost. It looks like an eyebrow texture with a skin background as painted on the UpperEyeBrow part of the map. Do you have a transmap assigned? Are the sliders min/max both set to 100%? There is no reason to put a skin texture on UpperEyeBrow area. Quick and dirty is the set a color for the whole thing and use the transmap to show this. Putting just the fur texture in the area and setting the color to white is better. Taking a fur texture, making it a grey scale, setting the contrast etc to light grey but variable (I call this 'Silver' use this as a texture and add color from Poser - the brows are not monochrome fur and can match the hair if you pick the right color. Lashes: If you set the color to white, use a texture to color the lashes and use a transmap that shows more lash than the texture colors, the rest will show as white. Could this be it?
Bubba, the materials below Preview are legacy materials. They apply to nothing. Here is what happened: This is V2P4. When the mesh was converted the materials for EyeBrows was renamed Eyebrows and EyeLashes to Eyelashes. DAZ used the V2 CR2 - the materials that are identical in name only appear once, but once a material is in a CR2 it will never go away even if the geometry no longer has it. You must delete it by hand. P3 /P4 is full of legacy materials. You can delete the "materials' section from a CR2 and Poser will redo it with only the ones in the Geometry, but it also means that you must reapply all of the textures AND Poser uses a rather eccentric method of coloring each of the materials, so they must also be set back to white. I am wondering if there could not be a Pz2-MAT file to reset the group colors to white all at one go?
I am getting very frustrated, here. I tried all of what you all said...am getting everything from white topped eyebrows, to the same ol clump I had in the first place. Pervers, you are using plain vicki2 right on that example? I had no problem whatsoever with doing the trans on her...It is this P4/v2 one that is really geting my panties in a bunch. (I am like on render 90, now.)
Let me see if my $.13 will help (13 cents instead of 2 because of inflation ;)). It shouldn't matter which you're using since the head is pretty much the same (from my limited experience; I just bought Vik2 yesterday, so, take that for what you will). Here's the settings I used (no helpful pictures right now): First eyebrow setting: no transparency, set the texture to the head texture, object color to white (my original problem was not selecting the texture here) Eyelashes: transmap, object color to whatever you want the lashes to be Upper eyebrows: transmap, head texture (not sure if you need it or not) Second eyebrows and second eyelashes (at the bottom): hadn't even noticed them so they're at default. That's pretty much it. Like said, I'm not a pro or anything, in fact Vik2 is my first experience with Vicky at all, so I'm still learning. I can post some pictures with settings and a render of what it looks like if it'll help you. I hope this helps somewhat anyway. I struggled for a while to get them to look right, but it'll come eventually. :)
Cromwell, I think a lot of that has to do with the textures being used. I just got Vicky2 with the high-res textures, and you can do things similar to that. If you're just using the standard P4 woman and standard texture, you're not going to get that result. It'll be plasticy and such, but if you get a good texture, you're well on your way. I'd suggest checking www.happyworldland.com if you're in need of some textures. Or, get Vicky(2) and the high-res textures from DAZ. A bit expensive if you're on a limited budget, but fun.
i'm glad i caught this thread. i was noticing what must actually have been whitish reflections off a transparent surface when i applied a transmap that i made to V2's upper eyebrows & eyelashes. These whitish traces were at the outer edges of the eyelashes and the topmost bit of the upper eyebrow mesh. Then i rechecked the highlight color, just now, and saw that it was something like 3,6,6 or some other almost-black color. Zapped it down to 0,0,0 and the wacky highlights went away!
I'd suggest checking www.happyworldland.com if you're in need of some textures Whoopdat...Most of my vicki textures are based on the p4 happyworld textures. I redid most of them for Vicki and they worked fine with Vicki. I made a new transmap for v2p4, even and still not getting what I want for results. (This is with textures like the Plum one from happyworld loaded.) I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have been at this ALL day. I was so happy to get v2 for Mom's day, and, now, I am ready to cry!!! Well, tomorrow is another day, but I have some work for a client I HAVE to get done, and I am stuck in this v2p4 circle....GRRRRR
I just bought Vic2...I finally was able to squeeze a little money out of my budget to buy her and also the regular rez textures. I have had poser for some time, but never worked with it much since I couldn't ge tthe quality I wanted out of the P4 models and couldn't afford to get Vicki or Michael. Vicki 2 was on sale and I went for it. Now if only Michael would go on sale... =P Thanks for the responses.
