Subject: LaFemme 2 Clothing Fit from LF1?

need a little advice on how to get LaFemme 1 conforming clothing to fit LaFemme 2. have been working with the included Prefit and Dev tools, but can't seem to get anything to work.

I'm sure I'm probably missing something simple and obvious, but tried all I know to do.  any advice will be appreciated. (Poser 13 on iMac, OS Ventura)

It would be nice if EvilInnocence could release a LF2 CrossDresser license.  ATM, my workaround with conforming clothing conversion involves several steps which may or may not work depending on the clothing and for whom it was made for.  My work flow is as follows:

1.  Use the LF2 Morph Tool to change her to LF and fit the LF clothing to her.

2.  Convert the clothing to a prop in the Fitting Room.

3.  Run a simulation in the Cloth Room, morphing LF2 back to her default shape while allowing the dynamic prop clothing to fit.

4.  On the final simulation frame, take the fitted clothing back into the Fitting Room and convert it back into a figure, transferring the body parts and morphs as necessary.  Note:  When using the Fitting Room, do not run any simulations for fit, just convert the clothing.

5.  Go back to the Pose Room, conform the clothing to LF2 and copy the Joint Zones.

6.  If you use CrossDresser to convert clothing from a different figure to LF, your rate of success will vary.  I have experimented with AerySoul outfits from V4 using the outlined process above, and those are a disaster. You always get stray vertices moving during the Cloth Room simulation.

If anyone could provide a better alternative, just using Poser as opposed to 3rd party programs, I would be greatly interested in the process.

If you have LF2 Pro, there's an easier process (as in, no need for a simulation and won't fail in clothing details that could fall off):

1. Import the clothing's obj from the geometries folder into Poser

2. Load LF2 Pro's LF1 to LF2 Prefit Tool from the props library

3. Copy the LF2 shape morph from the tool to the clothing obj

4. Export that obj

Now you can import that obj in a new scene and take it through the fitting room or setup room :) Using the dev rigs as donor will be better than using LF2 herself, but both will work as a start. Remember to Copy Joints From after that, if you're in Poser13.

I will.  This is something that should have been taken care of before launch.

If a figure isn't supported by a large number of vendors (i.e. every poser figure launched after V4), then conversion programs & tutorials need to go out at launch.

For the love of Cthulhu, this is supposed to be the default figure for Poser 13.

This... does not look like an easy process from what is written above. While  I adore the new LF2 and the included fits for hairpieces helped greatly, a LF1 conforming clothing conversion tutorial or script is sorely needed. Thank you, if possible, for prioritizing this for those already having a sizeable LF1 clothing library.

Yes ma'am. There is no audio or explanation, i find it very hard to follow what is being done . I have to constantly consult at the text of what is also posted above to figure what is going on, and as i said, the process is not simple.

For tutorials, either text with images or video with audio is what I find conveying processes best.

Hi Rhia474, I did another one yesterday with audio, as I'm experimenting with this too, it worked fine as expected.
The problem being that English is not my strength😀, but maybe it helps someone trying to do it. You can take a look or else wait for the official tutorials, I'm sure they will be planning something on the subject.

I'm sure they had a lot of things to be done in that time, they had to prioritize, that's how things get done with small teams.

Well, I tried this, following the steps and for me the converted clothing never conformed after conversion but stayed at the foot of the figure. What am I doing wrong?

At the foot? Wow I'm trying to imagine what would cause that, maybe the rigging part? A good tip would to double check after each step, to make sure you are following along with the correct result before continuing. What you said never happened to me.

I'm using Poser 13 in those videos, if you're on a previous version keep an eye for eventual differences (I'm not sure it there would be any...).

With work, it is possible.  But I have converted V4 clothing to La Femme using EvilInnocense's CrossDresser and using this method to convert the clothing to LF2.  If there are no major mesh alteration from the original conversion then you will have functional for LF2. I have already done some conversion.

Well, I followed what was described. I am on Poser 13. This was a conforming clothing piece for LF1. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I may try again tomorrow. 

1. Import the clothing's obj from the geometries folder into Poser--done.

2. Load LF2 Pro's LF1 to LF2 Prefit Tool from the props library--done.

3. Copy the LF2 shape morph from the tool to the clothing obj--done.

4. Export that obj--done.

Now you can import that obj in a new scene and take it through the fitting room or setup room --as described, done, but the import brings it to the foot of the figure and then it conforms to the foot as well.

@Rhia474, one thing to pay special attention: when importing the OBJs there are some checkboxes in the dialogue that you need to uncheck.

One of them would put the item in world center, causing an issue.

OK, yes there are some checkboxes there. For people not accustomed to importing and exporting, mentioning those options is important as part of the process. Thank you for bringing that up, will check it as my time allows today and report back.

Nope, no matter what OBJ I use it *always* imports it so it appears way down as if it was at the feet. I checked and the option I choose is 'centered'. Same when I re-import.

Rhia, if I'm reading correct you said you "checked" the option for "centered", Please note that I mean "do not check/mark it", see image below.

Also note, this should work for most items, as they do not have custom scale / trasnforms applied in the parameters tab. Those ones, I think, could require additional fixes otherwise (manual translation to put in place), before proceeding to rig. But I don't think that's your case.

For your information: the "Centered" checkbox pretty much means "Poser, please ignore included locations of this object and load it at 0 xtranslation, 0 ytranslation and 0 ztranslation". That option is for when you want to import obj files made for other programs, usually, to help you scale and place it where you want in Poser.

You want it off when you made an obj with specific placing - like a clothing already fit for a figure ;)

I'm finding that you can simply conform LF clothes (without sleeves) and boots to LF2 and use the morph brush to incorporate the new body shape. Do NOT copy joint zones and you will be OK. It is possible to pose the sleeves of an LF garment to fit LF 2, but you will have to change the limits on the forearms' side-to-side movement to 25.

This is my conversion of Vamps for La Femme conformed to La Femme 2 (joint zones NOT copied) and morph brushed to fit the new body shape. The Bootlook outfit boots also are simply conformed and morph brushed. The makeup is from an upcoming freebie for the Dark skin tone. I intend to make one for each skin tone, but I will be traveling for a month, so it won't be soon. The makeup works in Poser 13 with both Firefly (it's main purpose, given the absence of makeup for that render engine) and Superbly. Because the six MATs have no SSS, I ran the figure through EZSkin.

NOTE: EXTREME NEWBIE HERE!

There appears to be one problem with  the tutorial video methodology:  The figure morphs from LF1 (aka LF 2 pro with "Tool_LaFemmeShape = 1.0") to LF 2 over the course of the animation / simulation. I wanted a base LaFemme Pro 2 scene (default pose with conforming hair and basic clothing) to have as a starting point for other scenes / animations.  First problem I found is there appears to be no way to use LF1 clothing with LF2: non-dynamic clothing loads as figures, not as props so cloth dynamics are useless.  "Conform" doesn't do anything to either basic LF1 hair or clothing. (Unrealistic Newbie expectations?)

So I followed the video tutorial using the default LF2 pose keyframed at frame 1 with "Tool_LaFemmeShape" = 1.0 then  set "Tool_LaFemmeShape" = 0.0 at frame 30 and calculated the sim.  Yes, the "La Chemise" dynamic clothing appeared as you would expect, but only because it morphed from its LF1 default shape / size to the size-shape needed for the LF2 figure along with the body morphing from "Tool_LaFemmeShape" = 1.0 to 0.0 at the same time.  Not really the same as fitting LF 1 clothing to LF2 Pro. I looked for a way to copy the frame 30 values for "La Chemise" to paste back to frame 1 so that I could set "Tool_LaFemmeShape" = 0.0 and have "La Chemise" properly fit LF2's base pose.  No dice!  If you go to the "Edit Keyframes" pane, you see "La Chemise" "Adjust All" parameter is keyframed and animated EXCEPT that La Chemise" parameter pane shows no value change that can be copied / replicated at frame 1.  Most animation applications I am familiar with (and I've used A LOT) have a way to at least view if not copy any values changed from one keyframe to the next.  Cloth dynamics simulation has to calculate such values, but doesn't seem to provide them to the user anywhere in the UI. This would be such a simple addition to allow the user to "Copy / Paste" keyframe values for a situation like this to get a conformed clothing item for a default pose.  Or am I missing something?

NOTE: the last time I used Poser was in the early '90's for a forensic simulation.  I built the setting in Lightwave3D, (office space), imported into Poser, animated the figure for the simulation, and exported the Poser scene to Lightwave for the final render.  (There was a Poser supplied plug-in for import/export of objects and scenes between Poser and Lightwave at the time which apparently is no longer maintained or going to be updated - boo hoo, sniff :^{ - but I don't recall running into any of these issues with clothing or collision dynamics.)

There has got to be an easier way to conform dynamic clothing for LF 1 to LF 2 (or any "generic"  prop clothing, for that matter).  There should be a tool to convert basic non-dynamic legacy clothing (like LFemme->Clothing->Comforming-> 1PC Suit) to work with LF 2 by simply adding it to the scene.
