Worrioress, is that actually a word? ;-) I took a break from poser last year to wait for morphs and clothes to develop for Vicky and was gone longer than expected. When I received the email ad for Victoria 2.0, I got sucked right back in. I wasn't to thrilled with the initial Vicky, but the new version is absolutely awesome! I guess my free time is going to be spent on this hobby once again. :-) Here is a composite of a new character I'm working on. J'Quelinn is a fantasy, female warrior slash something else, I haven't decided yet. I'm looking forward to the game NeverwinterNights, so the characters I develop will be set in the Dungeons and Dragons mold. I usually go for elves and half elves, so I might add the pointy ears, not sure though. Any thoughts? BTW, although I didn't intend it when I first started adjusting the dials, she ended up looking a lot like a friend I have lost touch with. She had amber eyes as well. These might be slightly off, I'm going to fiddle with them some more, but they aren't as "unrealistic" as they may appear. :-) The clothes are the Daz changing fantasy suit. I'm trying to resolve a download problem with the optional textures, (the order went through, but no link was included!), so I just worked with the roiginals and some bryce texturing. You can't see them in this image, but the boots have the default brown "cuff", but have the same texture as the skirt for the main boot. If I can have as much success with magnets as I had with fiting the breastplate, I will likely add the abdominal armour, so those that are worried that she isn't well protected, I'm working on it. Although, she can take care of herself fairly well as is... I'm looking for upper arm guards and shoulder pads, any suggestions? I like Traveler's stuff, but they are for P4, which would make mixing and matching with the current outfit a little harder. Any one know from experience how tough it is to conform P4 items to the Victoria body? I don't mind fiddling with magnets... Well, it feels good to be back in the saddle again. I think there are a few questions above looking for answers, but would also ask for any other comments or suggestions. :-) If you want to see higher res images, check my Renderosity gallery. Also, you can check out my last character on the P4, Gwen. Most of her outfit had to be composited in using layers in PSP, it wasn't a conforming outfit. I'm glad Anton developed the changing fantasy suit, it's much easier!

I like amber eyes, I've seen some really "unreal" ones in real life! The things that stand out to me now are: What's holding her hair back or is it a buzz cut? She oughta have wider shoulders and bigger biceps... being a "warrioress", I pressume specialing in swordcraft. Right now she looks like a dainty maiden you got to pose in ceremonial (ie light and not practical, made of aluminium) armour. Now you're back, say goodbye to sleep...

Thanks for the comments April. :-) The hair may, or may not, be temporary. The Total Hair package looks great, but that's a lot of layers to get textured correctly in Bryce. That's my next major step. I'll take it as a learning experience for future models, even if I decide to keep the current hair for this character... The hair is short and slicked back, no ponytail, etc... The metal is a first step, I want to create bumpmaps for each of the metalic pieces to give them a "battleworn" look. Maybe specularity or reflectivity maps as well to give them a more worn look... I may beef up her muscles a bit, but want to wait until all the clothing and armour is in place. I like her frame, though, so I guess I should make those ears pointy and call her an elf. She would be pretty buff for a fullblooded high elf. ;-) Sleep? What's that? Sriously, I'm already getting less now that I'm back into Poser and Bryce. Thank Goodness for Melatonin. If I'm not up late working, I'm up late because I'm thinking of something new to try or an additional touch to add!

I like her face (and, yes, real people often have unusual eyes... without being elven). More armor would be welcome (and I'm glad that you are thinking of that vulnerable stomach). There are always arrows, rocks, and trapped corridors to contend with, no matter how fine a swordswoman she may be. Question: what is holding the face plate up? Carolly

hmm, yes... generally speaking (I was thinking of this pic while I hung out the washing!) fantasy pics are the more impressive when reality is very much in consideration. silly things like what is this thing strapped to, even if it's a magic world... i think you guys know what i'm on about :D i like d&d tho i haven't campaigned in years... baldur's gate is the closest i've come back to it in recent times :)

What's holding the face plate on? ood question, as the item doesn't have anything to hold it on! I guess the hair is supposed to cover the band that holds it on the head, which doesn't actually exist. :-) I'll either get some thicker hair on her or make some kind if headband. Thanks for pointing it out to me, I almost forgot it was a problem. She definitely needs something for the midriff. I'll play around with the included item and some magnets to get the right fit. If that doesn't work, some kind of leather "under-armour" might help. I agree with "realistic fantasy pics". There can be some elements that are impossible in our world, to highlight that it is fantasy, but it needs to be done on a foundation where not everything is fantastical. As to D&D as the foundation for a character, while much material is derived from our history, much is imagination. If you are making a historical figure, you may be concerned with historical accuracy. However, with Fantasy, history is just a starting point for the imagination. In the new 3rd Edition of Dungeons and Dragons, a warrior's protection can come from light armour combined with high dexterity and skilled movements, or heavy armour sacrificing some mobility. Even the question of how muscular a warrior should be doesn't have a single answer. Bonus fighting ability can focus on strength based skills OR those of quickness and finesse. Of course, nothing is black and white, a character could combine both, to a large degree, but in a stats based "world", being exceptionally strong AND quick might mean sacrificing smarts or willpower. No matter what my characters look like, they usually are pretty smart on top of it all. Also, they are often much deadlier then they look. ;-) Anyone with suggestions on shoulder pads and upper arm guards? How about the textures? I think I'll try fuller hair for the next WIP posted here. I like her hair as is, but I haven't tried anything else yet, so I might be surprised. Besides, I might solve part of the "waht is holding this thing on" problem...

a torus flattened and scaled would do for a hold on strap.. maybe 2 one scross the top and one around the head? if you use the same or simular texture it should blend in and you can keep the short hair? pauldrons and bracers are a decent idea.. there's always using a chain texture underneath for the abdomen? just random ideas.. if ye like one good.. if not but it sparks something else.. great 8 ) Cheers

Thanks Wizzard. Yeah, a chain texture might work and some kind of band should be doable, even just in Bryce. For the Pauldrons (thanks for the correct word) I THINK that Traveler has some nice ones in one of his fantasy suits. Like I said earlier, they conform to the P4, while what I have right now is for V2.0, so mixing and matching with full conforming is a no go, but how hard could it be to position, resize and magnet some P4 Pauldrons to fit a V2.0 character? :-) Another thing to put near the top of my "to buy" list. I keep on wanting to add another 512MB of ram while prices are so cheap, but when ever I have the money, I seem to find something else for Poser I "just have to have". ;-)

Thanks Praxis. :-) Eventually, I may make some of my characters available. I know some people down like the "new way" you need to release characters for Vicky2, but since I never did thwe old way, it seems like it may not be that hard to do. My Gwen character from last year used some custom morphs from Traveler along with the standard P4 morphs. I'm going to try to recreate her look with V2, but there was one particular head morph that was key to get her look and I haven't seen anything similar yet for Vicky. I'm going to double check, but I think that most of my poser files with her were transfered to a Zip Disk that died the "click of death". I'm hoping I'm wrong, or that I still have a version of her put away somewhere on the hard drive... I started another Vicky2 character just prior to the current one and she has potential. J'Quelinn just started as an experiment and I hit upon the mouth and lower half of the face that really matched a friend of mine. So, I decided to go for her look in this character. It's pretty close. Anyway, I really like Victoria 2 and the changing fantasy suit. It took a lot less work to get to this point than it did with the Gwen character. I just wish that they could find a way to do real cloth simulations in Poser 5...
