Subject: Dividing a .CAR file in more files

Hi, I'm Andrea from Italy, I've made my first animation with Carrara wich duration is about 2 minutes, I've found very difficult to manipulate the whole file in a time, and I've tried to divide the .CAR file in more files to make sub-animations with minor durations. The trouble is this: Is it possible to copy in some way the last frame of a .CAR file and paste it as first frame of another .CAR? I've tried to do it, but when I try to copy the last camera position from the first .CAR and paste it into the first frame of the second, an "Unknown Error message" window appears and the camera is not pasted. Is there some other way to divide an animation contained in a file .CAR in smaller animations contained in more .CAR file in wich the last frame of a file is equal to the first frame of the next one? I hope you'll understand my problem, and sorry if I couldn't explain well, but I'm a Carrara's beginner (and my English maybe is not so good). I'm waiting for your answers Greetings & Compliments Andrea The Image you see here is taken by the animation, what do you think about it? Is it so bad? Thanks

While i dont know of any official way to do it, what you may want to do is make the first part of your animation, save it, and then start a new one. Load your previous part, clear the animation frames, and start from that point. The reason your getting an error is probably thanks to one of Carrara's thousands of glitches. You could also try saving the last frame, then start a new animation, and use the merge feature to continue on with your animation. Good Luck! Your pic looks great so far. Cant wait to see the finished result.

Thanks for your answer, I've tried to save the first part of the animation and then load it in a new file, but how can I delete the first frames? Infact I deletede the key-frames, but the result now the animation goes from the beginning "positions" directly to the end "positions". You seggested me to save only the last frame, but how could I do it, is there an "hidden" option? Thanks a lot for your suggestions and I'm happy that you like my AA-01 (this is the name of the plane that I've modeled) See you Andrea

hmm, im sorry that didnt work, it did once for me, but we may be victim to a glitch. There is no hidden option. You may just have to plod along in one continuous animation.

The best way to do it is to load the same file up several times in the batch render que and then set the frame times for each file and the output filename for each one separately. This way you don't have to change the original file at all and you can render as many pieces as you want.
