More hair for the fellas, you're doing a great job in that department keep it up! Now of course more stuff for the kids...they need bunny slippers...no little girl is complete without them! They need socks, they need a real dress...er they're brand new, they need alot! A better baby...please!...lets face it the poser baby is ugly, even with all the morphs he/she/it is lacking, it needs larcimals and stuff to make it totally adorable, like the gerber baby! and more stuff for a baby...a bassanette(sp?) would be wonderful better animals...the poser lion is like poser 3 quality, the poor dog, even with morphs is rather goofy... more scene type elements...park type stuff columns, benches, gazebos and what not... A duster for everyone...not the trench coats that keep getting done, but a real authentic outback style duster with the flap over shoulders and the split up the back, with a cool brown duck oiled canvas texture... A fat bottomed baby dragon with wings to small to carry it any where, and cuteness to the extreme... toys! fruits and vegetables! the little things that make final touches for a scene...ya know?...

DMaul ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 4:34 PM

Exact replicas of all the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park 1-3 :)...Including bump maps and textures. And a morph to get that stupid raptor to talk :)

Dizzie ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 4:41 PM

ditto on the more hair for the fellas...and the clothes for kids...yes, a REAL dress...how many toddlers wear skin tight mini skirts? the kids need a jacket, shirt with long sleeves..that baby outfit that was mentioned in an earlier post...

hauksdottir ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 4:42 PM

No more cute! We are wallowing in cute! :( I'd like more authentic period stuff, props as well as clothes and hair. Carolly

Dmentia ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 4:50 PM

awwwwwh but cute sells :)...I mean look at free stuff, what other product latelly has inspired that many spontanious freebies?...even vicki didnt the girls come out with all thier cuteness, and free stuff gets flooded with all kinds of goodies for them...even if you don't like cute you gotta admit it sells, and people generally love it...there is always room for cute, even in a horror film... period things are a good idea also...some pattent leather buckle shoes for the little ladies would be great :) hehe

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 5:35 PM

Baby clothes. Rompers, dresses, sleepers, bonnets, booties, receiving blankets to wrap them in, christening robes, etc, etc. And HAIR. Little wispy curls of hair for the poor bald creature and maybe some ringlet curls for the toddler stage... Kate (who wishes she were a good enough modeler to make all this stuff)

mi-scha ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 5:38 PM
  1. Stuff for Michael: Hair and nonstandard clothes/props 2) Villains/Monster/Aliens 3) post apocalyptic stuff: see the RPG 'Fallout' 4) many, many other things ;)

atthisstage ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 6:57 PM

Clothing and hair for both Michael and the Dork. If I see that damn wedge cut one more time..............

gsalas ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 7:20 PM

I agree with the men's hair, only if they are high quality. and... I would like to see more men's cloathing, Both for 4 Male and the Mike. Also more varied cloathing for Victoria. I'm working on a huge set now, but it a long and time consuming project. Ps As for cute... I would be the first to Put a gun to the Vicky kid's heads. But I don't want to wast the money on them for just one image... (Just Kidding, I think, though I am shocked that they made the kids before "Super Morphing Mike 2.0") -Gabe-

phoenixamon ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 7:25 PM

Clothing for male characters. I know that the majority of men in the world are knights, warriors, dwarves or nudists, but I really would like to see some stuff for the small overlooked minority of men of unremarkable stature and little skill with a sword who wear clothes. Hair for the male characters. We all love baldies and dudes with long hair, but the novelty has worn off. Anything for the poor hideous little infant. Letting your babies go naked went out of fashion with hippies. Phoenix

TygerCub ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 7:42 PM

Plants, trees, bushes, skys, and other out-doorsy stuff for those of us who only have Poser and cannot afford another program that makes only those items.

MallenLane ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 7:50 PM

On the hair subject... Until poser can render subsurface light scattering, such as hair and skin have.. You won't see anything that renders decently but longish hair. Hair is a translucent quality material that takes light and diffuses it inside the hair strand. This creates very specific characteristics of volume distributed light penetration and scattering. No rendering engine that I'm aware can do this kind of calculation. Yet. http://graphics.stanford.edu/~henrik/papers/bssrdf/ Researchers are however working on it. =) With a standard rendering engine, like Poser has, light hits the surface, illuminates, and leaves the reverse side in shadow and casts a shadow. It cannot calculate the light penetrating the hair shaft. What this causes when using planes of transmapped polygons to simulate a volume of hair, are dark spots where you see the underside of the polygon through a gap or through the thinness of the transmap. One of the ways to fake that illumination and get around the problem is to increase the ambient illumination setting. This gets rid of the undesirable dark spots, however it leaves the hair looking tone washed-out. Hope all that made sense.

phoenixamon ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 8:58 PM

Mallen, All that said, we want short hair styles. :) We can't expect really real-looking hair in poser, but what we've got looks pretty durn good as compared to the helmet hair that ships with poser. Phoenix

MallenLane ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 9:09 PM

Yes, I was jsut trying to point out that the above is the bane one truely short hair. =

Bia ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 9:10 PM

better shadows!!!! better dogs and wolves with better morphs and better fur textures...commission some! I agree...stop with the cute and the conventionally beautiful (you know high cheekbones, big puffy silicon lips and implanted breasts...) add some different chin lines, some wrinkles, some bumps on noses, some NORMAL LIPS!!!! that's my biggest complaint... More hair styles for guys.

Crescent ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 10:52 PM

Stuff for Mike. He's developing a major inferiority complex! Realistic Vicki clothes. How many women prance around all the time in lingerie or bikinis? (Assuming they're dressed at all!)

Huolong ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 10:56 PM
  • Men's hair * Buildings as props or CR'2 for the most common types seen in urban, suburban, and rural settings. There are no props for the small strip center .. Also most common buildings for european or asian settings. Mid to low polygon. * Ships and components of the most common type for various periods (freighters, cruise liner, smaller warships ... modern, early-mid XXth Century, early steam, late sail). Mid to low polygon except for components (air funnels, captain's deck, type passenger suite) *

I'm sick of cute also, have been for a long time More "real" clothing with "real" textures...shoes particularly...geez I'm glad I'm not Victoria OR Michael. Those platforms have got to go I second the better animals...they're pathetic. The Poser horse...I'm not going there. There are books with animal skeletons that will show how joints flex. Anton Kisel (sp?) did a wonderful job on a non-existant creature...there's a message in there g A male and female adult model with joints that don't crease when you flex them. (And in spite of the mega-mouthed moral minority WITH genitals) Now that I've made enemies I might as well keep going... I'm tired of the adolescent boys fantasy of what women look like. What's wrong with Elisabeth Shue, Madeline Stowe, Katherine ZJ and women who know how to dress? For the guys...Russell lmao A better Poser

eirian ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 4:46 AM

Jewelry - for Mike, not Vicky and Posette. Sure, you can adjust theirs for another model, but there's very little around that looks like something a man would wear. Eirian.

Phantast ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 5:00 AM

I second mi-scha on the monsters/aliens/post-holocaust stuff.

wolf359 ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 5:26 AM

More Monsters, aliens and Sci-fi battle suits/ armor for mike a default renderer like bryce!!! I dont even bother with the poser renderer Curious should stop making plugins for Max and other highend apps outside the financial range of their user base and give them a decent raytracer!!

Just my twopenneth.... If you're gonna make clothes,PLEASE give them at least the standard morphs (superhero etc..) I'm fed up with buying stuff and then finding out it doesn't fit my poser guys n'gals... All the best

praxis22 ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 10:20 AM

Hi, Personally i like "cute", but Thorne's got a lock on that dept. :) I'd also like better hair, (male and female) but I'd also like decent scenes to pose them in, (the interior of the 737 in a later thread looks good :) but I'd also like more "toys" meaning modern technology, some decent mobile phones, a variety of computer monitors, games consoles, etc. Stuff like that. Some more clothes for mike would help, something stylish like a decent suit, shirt and tie, overcoat, etc. Decent business outfits for both men and women, that's what I'm after. later jb

Attached Link: http://www.geocities.com/frozenpixelz/html/props.html

Ordinary everyday type props that are not particularly stylized. I love FastTraxx's props as works of art--he manages to put character into even the most mundane of items--they just look cool. However, that also becomes a problem in using his props--they've all got his "signature" style (basically, it's not difficult to tell the FastTraxx props in a particular scene). A more generic looking prop may often be more suited to a particular scene--one that is personalized by the user through the use of texture maps and bump maps, rather than the mesh itself. I am also impressed with the interior set works of JesterCGI (Lava Bar is his most useful props package to date for interiors--the MTA subway is not as versitile, but a great scene prop nonetheless), and the prop works of Ian Porter (his Building Construction Kit is a "must have" for any Poser Prop library--link above) and the fun nostalgic props at the FunkyBob site (link: http://funkybob.virtualave.net/Poser_Propsx.html).

gsalas ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 2:27 PM

Crescent, You've never lived in paradice have you... ;^] Oh ya, wolf359 The reason they don't have raytrace or collision warning and open GL support for that mater, is because if they did, poser would become one of theose "highend apps outside the financial range of their user base" items. That is the type of fetures or capabilities that makes programs like max lightwave exc. cost so much. If you think about it by just adding a decent reitrace engin, and open gl support alone would give you somthing better than charector studio offers, at which point the price would get really high really fast. But Poser 5 is on the horizon, so let's see and hope. I try to use max to render all the time anyway, I just want to see collsion warning, that alone would make the program gold. Think about it... You just import the shirt, conform it, scale it down, and it automaticaly gert's the charectoristics of the body it's around. Or even better you wouldn't have to reajust things when animating. Yippi!!!! (Beter than using magnets, and less time consuming too.) wouldn't that be a dream come true. But i'm not a programer and thus I can't even make a plug in for it. So many people over look or don't understand the consept or potential of collision warning or "Solidify" commands, so it never get's offered. -Gabe-

wolf359 ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 6:21 PM

Uhhhhh... I dont remember saying anything about collision detection Gabe, and i am not asking for radiosity or any of that I already have that in my seat of Lightwave 6.5. But I think curious labs should be embarrassed that other 200 - $300 apps (Bryce, vue World builder basic) have DEFAULT renderers that make poser's look like a cruel joke, while curious is busy trying to figure out how to Host uneditable poser scenes in Max4. BTW as a person who is primarily interested in character animation i must say that in my opinion collision detection is NO substitute for Skillfull keyframing. I would further venture to say the, if this forum is any indication, the majority of poser users do Still renders not animation any way. Look around the galleries here and see the incredible work being done with no post in bryce and vue hell even terragen!!. there is great imagery being done with poser but the best stuff i heavily post edited which means having to buy Photoshop or PSP i think a better render engine is NOT too much to ask at this point in the programs history

atthisstage ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 6:36 PM

I agree, Wolf. The rendering engine in Poser is in serious need of an overhaul, especially now when people are developing such hi-rez textures.

Bia ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 6:41 PM

I agree with the realistic genitals...I want those in the package. If there is a buyer who objects to these, they can always delete.

Jazzmin ( ) posted Thu, 09 August 2001 at 1:45 AM
  1. More clothes and hair for the guys, specifically Mike. 2. Clothing like the outfit Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) wears in the tv show. 3. Poses and textures for the owl by Debra Ross (http://www.vistainternetproducts.com/deb.htm) 4. Poses and textures for Daz's Dragonfly. 5. A dove and poses 6. A Faery character or texture like the costume Drew Barrymore wore in the movie Ever After in the scene at the ball, including the glitter on her cheeks :) This would make one happy camper!

gsalas ( ) posted Thu, 09 August 2001 at 2:27 PM

wolf359: True and good point about the renderer, but also keep in mind poser 4 is now really old for the computer industry, and has had three companies own it, and again with poser 5 on the horizon we have to see what will happen. I am sure that there will be great improvemnts in the rendering engine, but I'm not exacly shure how much better they will be. Brice has always had a better rendering engen then poser, even when they were owned by the same company. In my opinion the best way to do it would be plugins like max uses. If you want a beter lighting capabilities then you get Lightscape, if you want people you get charector studio, exc. that would give people the choice of what they wanted and howmuch they would spend. though most people I think would disagree with me on this. As for max and poser, that's what a bone structure is for. I have basic bone sructures for my poser figures in Max (Charector studio acualy,) and If I need to modify or edit I set the Ik chains up which take me no time. (I have a max script that does most of the work for me) and Bam, what ever needs to be Done, is done. There is also a great little utility that someone put up hear that converts the poser animation information in to max and there again your all set. The thiing is the higher end or refigned the fetures, the higher the price. what poser already offers is incredible for the price. The collision detection and Open GL support are more my "Poser Wish list things" but it's the same thing they are other fetures that would rase the price. I do agree with you comment on collision warning though, there is no real substitute for real acurate mesh or keyframing work, but it does make life allot easier, and the way that the conform comand works in poser it would reduce alot of heaadaches... Best of regards -Gabe-

wolf359 ( ) posted Thu, 09 August 2001 at 5:51 PM

Thanks Gabe, I use Lifeforms froms from credo interactive it allows you import the BVH data from a poser animation as an aligned set of bones. from there you can animate the bones, Add motion capture combine and thin the added motion capture insert instant walk cycles where you set the parameters of the walk such as distance and step length. import live Quicktime or AVI footage and rotoscope a keyfamed animation to it and then export the animated bones as new BVH data for the poser character It can also open the bone rigs from my Lightwave 6.5 charcters. where they can be animated in Lifeforms and merged back into the lightwave characters ther is an option the export as 3D studio Max but i dont really know what it exports since I am a MAC user. its great Application. Happy animating!!
