Subject: Poser Turbo Charger

What can i do to turbo poser rendering engine, like add-ons or filters. I want to create better looking shadows and textures. I know if i want to speed rendering up i need a fast cpu.

Nothing other than CPU and RAM will speed it up. The rendering engine doesn't take advantage of any other process. I've found that the smaller the vertice count in the scene. The faster the rendering is. But that doesn't help much when you have a whole scene full of figures to render. ScottA

For better looking shadows, increase the shadow map sizes when you render. For better looking textures, use both a texture map and a reflectance map. And increase the texture map size (I'd recommend the program "Genuine fractals", although the image scaler in PootoPaint 9 isn't bad, either). But Poser's renderer is much like a video game. It's not a ray tracer (like Cararra or Bryce), and it can only go so far. Your best bet for a good render is to export the file to a better renderer. The interface is the opposite of what you describe, Poser becomes the "posing plugin" for lightwave or 3D Studio.

To tell the truth, I've never gotten texture maps and reflection maps to work well togeather, it always seems like one is fighting the other. Reflection maps work well with bump maps, though. You can also turn off shadows for lights you don't need the effect, that speeds up rendering somewhat. Poser's render isn't very good, but it is actually pretty fast, though, I assume you haven't tried Bryce. (...now talk about slowwww!)
