OK, I got Dina and the Corset set.......I've only looked at the basic Dina character so far (haven't tried the corset); here's my first impression: 1) This BLOWS AWAY the figures from DAZ/Zygote in detail and quality. 2) I applied a standard P4 pose and it needed very little adjustment (right collar bend). 3) Hair applies fairly well (needs slight adjustment). 4) I applied several of my more challenging poses and the bending of the limbs is SO much better. No breaking/no post needed. 5) There was only slight sluggishness on my 300MHz machine w/128MB RAM. In fact I have other characters which are MUCH worse on my machine....... 6) Fantastic detail in the genital area. This could be used for medical purposes. I used the stock Dina character with none of the extra morphs or resources available. I included a quick render in one of my poses....note how well the shoulders and arms look in this pose! Even the neck is vastly improved..... This significantly raises the bar for figure sophistication within Poser. If Curious is smart they'll work out a deal with Diane and Dan for the next release (great work guys!). Dina is well worth the the $30....... Krel

Although I love the elbows and knees I have yet to get a decent pose with the armpits, they just don't look right. Hopefully the ideas that Jim Burton has about the shoulders will fix this. Marque

Yes, I'm looking forward to that fix......the shoulders are just to line backer-ish......I've since looked at the corset which includes stockings, thigh boots, and lace-up boots. All very nice, all conform well....... Krel

The corset is great because it also has a skirt and overskirts with it. And you can change the corset to look different. Marque

I just don't get it...what's the deal with Dina. To me, Vicky 2 looks to be a far more realistic model and has a very large selection of morphs. If a new model came out that would allow better joint handling (e.g., so you could actually bend the model realistically in a full range of motion) then I could understand. But, not trying to be a nay-sayer, but Dina seems a step back at least in terms of realism of the model. Maybe its me..someone tell me what advantages Dina has, cus it's certainly not apparent from any of the renders I've seen.

Actually she does have better joints and she poses better, except for the shoulders which they are changing. Her elbows and knees don't break when you pose her. I think that she is pretty much raw material, and that she will get much better with age. Personally I'm glad I got her. Marque

OK, here's the advantage of Dina: 1) More polys = greater detail ALL over 2) Greater morph potential because of #1 3) Much more realistic face 4) The MOST realistic genitalia 5) Superior bending and posing 6) Excellent texture map 7) Little or no post required to a rendered image 8) Breasts are much more rounded and smooth 9) Mouth detail; individual teeth can be seen 10) Reasonable price Hope this clarifies for everyone. I'm quite impressed with Dina! And BTW, Blitter, I did extensive research before I bought Dina. There are a number of gallery images made with her. You should go look; I became convinced in a few days to buy her. Also I think DACORT has a web page showing a detailed comparison between P4, Vick, and Dina.....that really helped my decision-making.......there are plenty of pics that show Dina's advantages...... Yeah, but her un-morphed face is fairly ugly...imho.

"I just don't get it...what's the deal with Dina."

I know what you mean. I am sure the polycount is useful in some areas... but any added realism that comes from that is lost by the fact that she is far from detailed. The middle torso looks like a cylinder.

The only possible advantage I get from Dina is the join blending stuff - but her joints aren't perfect (those armpits?) so I would still wind up messing with her. And then I need to buy all new cloths, and morphs, and on and on.

So for me... I just can't see it.

Yes, Vicky has some polycount issues... but I can fix those after I get her into Max with a quick meshsmooth operation and the broken joints on some Poses reflect more on how limited Posers joint stuff is as a whole. sigh

Choice is good... and I am glad folks are getting a lot of use from Dina ... but for me the added polygons don't help if the shape isn't one I can use.
