Hi everyone.. I am a newbie in Poser 4. Can't someone tell me how to use the poser 3D that comes with the 2nd CD. I want to figure out how to paint 3D object created by Poser 4. I can't figure out how to import a format that Painter 3D can read. There must be some trick to do that. 2 Bad they didn't give any doc on how to do it. also I figure out how to export obj just a the lets say face or chest. And after i created the face texture map, i don't know to have poser to load the face texture map. If anyone can figure out or there is a good tutorial ..please point out to me. Thanks in advance. P.S please parton my english 2.. =)

your engish isnt bad and mine isnt better ( im german) I dont know if anyone here uses that paintprogram ,it isnt very useful. For the normal people delivered with poser there are texture templates on the second cd.load them in any paintprogram and make textures on them. save the textures you have done and in the rendermenue you can apply them. for things you dont have a texture template there is a free program called uv-mapper ( www.uvmapper.com)with which you can make your own templates.

You would also need the update to that program, and I think it would be really hard to find. That's why you can't bring in the poser characters to map them. The program used to crash my system big time even with the update. If you don't have photoshop you can use Paint Shop Pro or other programs like it. Just think of the texture map template like a skin that has been laid out like a bear skin rug. 8^) You need to also remember to save your textures under a different name so you don't ruin the original. In the early days you will be using the ones from the CD that can be replaced, but better to get into the habit now so that when you create your own you don't mess up all your hard work. There are good tutorials out there, you might want to visit www.poserarcana.com great spot for tutorials. Have fun and keep reading and asking questions and you'll get it in no time. Marque

thats why i see beautiful selfmade textures all around here and no one needs to buy textures from the store :-)))

I have Painter 3D...bought it brand new on Ebay. Opened it up, couldn't make heads or tails of it. Tried to learn it one or two more times and haven't used it since. It's gotta be the most ridiculously arranged and illogically laid out program I've ever used. Argh!! I do all my textures in Photoshop or PSP now. Had to get PSP so I could use the Jungle Bundle 3D. And that's the only thing I use THAT for...LOL. Sigh - so much wasted money on software :(. Laurie

Laurie, I hear you on that! I also have the jungle bundle, but I already had Painter so I was ok. Don't think I'll be upgrading to Painter 7 though. I have PSP, bought it because of all the tubes I saw and have yet to even install it..lol Marque

Althought I use Photoshop my self I recently found a great FREE paint program called GIMP. GIMP has almost all the functions of Photoshop/Paintshop and...did I mention it's FREE! Check out http://www.gimp.org (found it while setting up my new Linux box and there is a Windows version too) .....did I mention the word FREE???!!

I've used GIMP for Windows, but I've found it to be very buggy. And being a graphic artist for the last decade, there's NOTHING - free or otherwise - that can replace Photoshop ;). Laurie
